Dear Diary...
...The day was perfect for a run. In my opinion, at least.
Y/n hates going for runs. She's not liked it ever since her high school p.e teacher made her run against her will.
And ever since I found out about that, it has been my wholehearted mission to get her to fall in love with it as much as I have.
Running is peace for the soul. It's the only time I can actually clear my mind and feel calm again.
The only time I can actually feel silence.
So, I managed to persuade Y/n to come with me.
We were in New York, and the day was perfect for it. It had snowed the day before, and Central Park was looking like a scene straight out of Home Alone.
The branches of the trees were white, and the ground was invisible; it was covered in snow.
"All right," Y/n had said, "but only because I love you."
I smiled: "I know you do."
We left the apartment early, just after sunrise, to avoid the large crowds.
Y/n had gone shopping for long-sleeved sports clothes and got ready in less than five minutes.
She was excited. It was a unique thing to witness. Although she hated the sport, she got ready to just go with it.
The beginning of the jog was nice and slow, so Y/n could get used to it.
I let her set the pace throughout the run, and although it was slower than how I usually run, it was really pleasant.
Y/n looked happy; she was smiling at the kids building snowmen, at the number of fully grown adults playing in the snow.
We went through Central Park, made it to the lake, and saw an insane amount of dogs playing in the snow.
Throughout the run, I kept an eye on Y/n. Just to see if she was still doing well.
It was important to me to know if she was enjoying the run. I didn't want to pressure her into doing something she didn't want to do.
But so far, it seemed quite fine. She was happy, and that made me happy.
When we finally finished our run, Y/n was panting, but she was excited.
"That was amazing!" She jumped into my arms, and I hugged her as tightly as I could.
"Oh, Lewis, how did you never take me for a run earlier?!"
She was giggling, jumping and couldn't keep still. I chuckled and was mesmerised by the amount of energy she still had.
"How are you jumping after our run?" I laughed, and Y/n smiled as if the sun had just shone again after three dark years.
Y/n grinned and stopped jumping, wrapped her arms around my neck and pressed her lips against mine.
"Oh my gosh, I love you so much, Lewis," she squealed, hugging me as tightly as she possibly could.
I smiled, content with the result. Y/n finally accepted going for runs again.
"So," I started as we made our way back home, walking slowly through the park after getting a cup of hot chocolate.
"Shall we go for a run again tomorrow?"
She glared at me, and I could only laugh.
"In your dreams, Hamilton," she smirked, skipping through the park as I smiled after her.
She's the one and only for the rest of my life.
It's been a week since that run, and now we do it every morning, except she wears a diamond ring on her ring finger.
My girl.
