Y/n tumbled to the ground. Pink petals scatter around him as he tries to catch his breath. It's been a long time since he pushed himself to this extent. Chara stared at him judgmentally; she was barely fazed, and her eyes oozed disappointment. It was as if she had gotten up from a chair instead of running at a full sprint for two minutes straight. At least he fell into the shade, otherwise, Y/n might have passed out from heatstroke by now.

"Get up," she ordered firmly.

"W-what?" Y/n rasped out, still trying to get his body to function again.

"We need to talk. I'd rather we spoke on equal terms, instead of this—" she waved her hand at Y/n. He couldn't quite get a read on her current mood, but she certainly wasn't too thrilled about what just happened. Her eyes were glowing red, visible even against the sunlight surrounding her.

"Sorry... care to give me a hand?" Y/n sat up, wiping the sweat off his forehead.

"Ha," she let out bluntly. It was pretty clear that she had zero intentions of helping him up.

"Jeez, it's not like we're all superhuman here. My muscles need time to recover after such an intense workout," Y/n complained, slowly pushing himself to an upright position.

"You call that intense? That's a pretty low bar, huh?" She tossed out flatly.

"Yeah, I'll admit, I'm not quite a division one athlete here." he looked at her carefully. " What's up? You don't look too pleased right now. Was it something I said before? I'm sorry if it is, sometimes—"

"No, it wasn't something you said. It's that your total incompetency in a fight almost costed your goddamn life back there. What would you have done if my distraction hadn't worked? Getting choked out isn't the best plan for winning a fight, and it's certainly not one if you plan to survive an encounter like that," she snarled, a hint of frustration hidden behind her words.

"That's not something I can control, Chara. The guy was nearly twice as big as me, I quite literally stood zero chance in a one-on-one confrontation with him," Y/n argued.

"You could have ran! You could have done anything other than standing there and letting them isolate you like that. If that fucker had a weapon, what then? If he were the one with the knife instead of one of those incompetent morons, then what would have happened? You—"

"And leave you with them? They certainly wouldn't have let up if I had ran, and even if they did, you would have to fight them instead. What kind of coward leaves their friend like that?" Y/n shot back, his annoyance steadily mounting.

"I would have dealt with them just fine, thank you very much. If you hadn't noticed, I was the one keeping the rest at bay while you were struggling with that guy. And let me remind you, your little scuffle was not going to end well," she pointed out harshly.

"I—..." Y/n quickly trailed off. He forced his eyes shut and tried not to let his memories take hold of him.

"Don't worry about me, okay? I promise I'll be back in the future."

"And if you're not? What am I supposed to do then?"

"Have a little faith in me, will you?"

"It's not safe to go! There are wars going on out there! You could get hurt or, or—"

"Stop Y/n it. I can take care of myself just fine. Plus, I'll have big Sis with me! You have nothing to worry about."

"......"

"I... I hope we meet again, Y/n. Remember to keep chasing those hues... even if I'm not here to chase them alongside you."
