[Y/n]

The skies are pretty clear today. It's not often you get to see this many stars out.

Y/n pulled out his phone, suddenly remembering to check the news. Normally he would do this every day to figure out what was going on in Ebott, but he hasn't gotten the chance to since Chara dropped into his life.

Why did I say yes to sparring? I don't even know how serious she is about it. For all I know, she is going to make me "train" every day. God knows that's not something I'm capable of.

The phone's light reflected onto Y/n's face, flickering as he scrolled down the feed. The light breeze whistles around him as if speaking secrets nobody can understand.

A lot of rehashed stuff. Hopefully, that's good news. Maybe things have begun to slow down.

Memories of yesterday's fight flashed through his mind.

Yeah never mind. What was that anyway? A bunch of creepy dudes dressed up in concealing clothing. There is no way that was just some regular mugging... Ah whatever. Must have been some lunatics a couple of months early to Halloween.

Y/n kept scrolling down.

"Tsk... so much for things slowing down," Y/n mumbled.

"Sneaking out all by yourself?" A mischievous voice asked from behind him.

'GAH! Wha—" Y/n's entire body jolted up in surprise, the phone in his hand launching upwards. And whether it be the dim moonlight, the current time, or Y/n's complete lack of hand-eye coordination, his phone landed on the tips of his fingers, bounced off, hit the ground with a loud thud, and then clattered faceup onto the concrete sidewalk. In a panicked motion, Y/n snatched the phone off the ground and inspected it for any damage, and by whatever luck he had left, the large fall only resulted in a couple of light scratches on the screen and some of the paint on his phone case scraping off.

He quickly spun around just to find Chara snickering at his frantic scrambling. Y/n let out an exacerbated huff and stuffed his phone into the front pocket of his sweater. He angrily walked over, a smudge of pink tingeing his cheeks. Crickets chirped playfully in the background as the two started walking in the moments before the sunrise.

"What are you doing out this early?" Y/n asked.

"I could ask you the same thing," Chara shot back with a teasing grin.

"... I woke up and couldn't fall back asleep," Y/n replied, his eyebrows furrowing in an attempt to remember what woke him up.

"Hmm, believable enough I guess. So, are you ready to continue where we left off? You're still a ways off from being even a little bit competent at defending yourself."

"Thanks, but no thanks. I'd rather not deal with the noise complaints," Y/n quickly rejected.

"Tch, excuses excuses," Chara groaned.

"Hey wait a minute! Why are you up so early?" he interjected.

"You were quite loud, you know? I don't think anyone can sleep through your loud cursing. I went down to check on you, but guess what? You were sneaking out like some kind of criminal."
