Author's POV
Sebestian rushed to the hospital after getting the news that Evelyn slipped in the kitchen. When he reached there, his and Evelyn's parents were present there. Sana was also there.
"Mom, how is she?" Sebastien asked .
Selena hugged him and sobbed, "I'm sorry, I failed to take care of her. It's my fault. "
"No, mom, it's not your fault." He was trying so hard to prevent his tears, but he failed to do so.
Ravenna was crying so hard that James was sitting beside her to calm her down. Sebastien went and crouched down in front of them. He held Ravenna's hands.
"Mom, I am so sorry. I promised to cherish your daughter forever, but she is hurt. I couldn't protect her." He sobbed.
Ravenna pulled him into a hug and cried, "She will be alright. You and Selena are not at fault. Stop blaming yourself. Let's pray that she and the babies are safe."
"How did this happen?" Sebastien enquired.
"I went to sleep after tucking her in bed. Later, I heard her scream from downstairs. She was lying on the kitchen floor. The broken glass pieces of water jug were there on the floor. So glass even pierced in her arm. " Selena told him.
"Doctors said that her condition is critical. As she is carrying twins, it's more risky." Aron said.
"Seb, I am very scared. I want my Eve safe." Sana said.
"Who is the patient's husband?" A nurse asked.
"It's me. How is she?" Sebastien asked.
"Sir, you need to sign this." She handed him a form.
"What is it about?" He frowned.
"Your wife and babies are in danger. The possibilities of the babies surviving are higher than that of your wife. Doctors are trying their best to save them, but if there is a situation where we have to choose between babies and the mother, then whom should we prioritize. You have to fill and sign this consent form." Nurse explained.
"What do you mean prioritize? I want my babies and my wife safe at any damn cost." Sebastien shouted, and the nurse flinched at his tone.
"Sir, we can't proceed with the operation until you sign this." Nurse said.
"Sebastien, calm down. She is just doing her job. You should sign this." Aron placed a hand on Sebastien's shoulder.
"Dad, she is asking my permission to kill either my kids or wife." He said with a cracked voice.
"There are still chances of survival. Don't delay further. Sign it so that they start operating. " Aron said.
"I want my wife to be safe." Sebastien said.
"Chances of here survival are 20% and babies' survival is more than 90% . You should prioritize your babies. " Nurse suggested.
"I don't want your suggestion. I want my wife, that's final." Sebastien roared.
"I hate to admit this, but you should choose babies. Evelyn might not survive it." Aron said sadly.
"I want my daughter. " Ravenna cried.
"I know that Evelyn might not survive, but as a father, I can't choose death for my baby." James said.
"My decision to save Evelyn is final. " Sebastien signed the paper and gave it to the nurse.
Evelyn was shifted to operation theater. Sebastien was pacing outside OT restlessly.
"Selena, eat something. You have to take medicine. " Aron said.
"I can't eat. My daughter and grandchildren are in danger, and you want me to eat." Selena said.
"Aron is right. You should eat. Evelyn wouldn't like the fact that you skipped meals and medicine. " Ravenna said.
"You all need to eat something. I brought sandwiches. " Lennon entered the waiting area with Alex.
As soon as Sana saw Alex, she rushed to hug him. She needed a soothing hug the most at that moment.
"Shh, it's gonna be alright. Calm down. Eve is a fighter. She will be fine." Alex rubbed her back.
"What's the update?" Lennon asked Sebastien.
" She is under operation. They made me sign a form saying that they would prioritize her if they had to choose between babies and her. They said that she have low survival chances. " His voice cracked a little.
"You have to be strong, Sebastien. For your family and Evelyn. If the doctors are saying that it might be difficult for all of them to survive it, then you have to become her strength if she loose the baby. " Lennon said .
"I'm trying my best to remain strong, but I'm really scared, Len. I lost her once in the past, and now I'm not ready to lose her or our babies. I can't bear that pain." Sebastien said.
After 6 hours, the doors to the OT opened. Sebastien and James rushed to the doctor.
"Doctor, my wife and the babies are fine, right?" Sebastien asked.
"Tell me, is my daughter fine?" James said.
"Mr Robinson, your wife and babies are fine. Babies are absolutely healthy, but" Doctor paused .
"But? What are you trying to say?" Sebastien asked.
"But, your wife is still vulnerable. The chances for her survival were very low, but we still managed to save her. She is still not completely fine. We need to keep her in observation." Doctor said.
"She will be fine, right?" James asked.
"We can't be sure about it. The next 48 hours are very critical for her. If she manages to survive it, then it's gonna be alright. " Doctor said.
"What do you mean by you can't be sure? It's your duty to save life. I want my wife safe and sound. Do you understand?" Sebastien growled and gripped the doctor's collar.
"Seb, leave him. Control yourself. He is doing his work." Lennon said. He and Alex managed to get the doctor out of Sebastien's grip.
Sebastien realised his mistake, " I'm sorry, doctor. I should have misbehaved with you. I just can't bear to lose my wife. She is my everything. Please save her. I request you." He got on his knees in front of the doctor and pleaded to him.
"Please, Mr Robinson , you don't have to kneel in front of me. I totally understand that you are in pain right now. I promise I'll try my level best to save your wife. It's my duty to do that." Doctor said.
"Can we see her?" Selena asked.
"I'm sorry, for the next 48 hours, I can't allow anyone to meet her." He replied.
"Can we meet our grandchildren, at least?" Aron asked.
"Babies will be under observation for the next 2 hours. You guys can meet them after that." Doctor replied.
"Please, god, either save my Evelyn or kill mt too. I can't live without her. You can't be so cruel to snatch her away from me once again.' Sebastien prayed.
