"And he walks around like he's some hockey god and we're all just supposed to follow him blindly. Can you believe that guy?!"

I rolled my eyes for the umpteenth time as I dried my hair with the towel I was holding and listened to my boyfriend, Charlie, complain about our new coach. Again. We were the last two Ducks left in the locker room after another grueling practice. I was watching the clock to make sure we didn't break Orion's rule about not dilly dallying in the locker room but Charlie had yet to change out of his gear. I put the towel down and grabbed my hairbrush and a scrunchie. I started brushing out my hair as Charlie continued to rant.

"And he's all-" Charlie stopped and turned to me. "Y/N, are you listening to me?"

I glanced at Charlie before tilting my head over to brush the underneath. "Yes, Charlie. I'm listening."

"I mean, he treats us like little kids! Maybe if he treated us like adults, we'd act like adults!" Charlie said, crossing his arms, ironically, almost childishly.

I sighed, setting the brush down beside me on the bench. "I think you need to calm down, Char."

"What?" Charlie asked, a confused look on his face. "Tell me you're joking."

"I'm serious, Charlie." I said, calmly. I finished pulling my hair into a ponytail and turned to my boyfriend. "I just don't think he's as bad as you make him out to be."

"Oh, so you're on his side?" Charlie asked accusingly.

       "No, I just-"

"First he takes Bombay's place then he takes Captain away from me and now you're on his side?!" Charlie exclaimed, throwing his hands in the air.

"That's not what I said!" I exclaimed back.

"Because you should be on my side, Y/N. I'm your boyfriend for god's sake!" Charlie yelled as he plopped down on the bench across from me.

I glared at Charlie. "I'm more on your side than you know, Charlie."

"And just what is that supposed to mean?" Charlie asked, glaring back.

I got up from the bench and started to collect my things. "It means that Coach Orion offered me the captain spot but I turned it down in loyalty to you!"

Charlie's face went white. "He did? A-and you-"

I turned back to Charlie. "I told him to give you a chance to prove yourself because you deserve it but if you're gonna question my loyalty, maybe I should have taken it!" I slung my bag over my shoulder and stormed towards the door.

       "Y/N, wait!"

       But I didn't look back.
