(A/N: Hey lovelies! Here it is! The 80k Oneshot Special! It's inspired by a song I had stuck in my head lol I hope you like it! Now, on with the oneshot!)
It was Friday night and the coffee house that my crush, Dwayne, worked part time at was abuzz with excitement. It was open mic night and the place was packed with patrons and Ducks alike. Dwayne had invited us to hear him sing and play guitar and we'd all happily agreed. Well, technically he'd asked me to come see him play and the rest of the gang had overheard and invited themselves.
I took a sip of my drink as I watched Dwayne happily greet newcomers to the shop. I smiled at his enthusiasm before sighing quietly to myself. Dwayne and I had been on a few dates in the past few months but our relationship hadn't progressed the way I'd wanted it to. Hell, I'd even kissed him on our last date but that was over two weeks ago.
As things got started, a few acts got up and sang or performed poetry. They were all pretty average but I still clapped encouragingly for them all. It takes guts to get up in front of people the way they did. The manager took the small stage once again when the applause died down.
"Great job guys! Now, everybody give it up for our resident cowboy, Dwayne Robertson!" He called out into the mic.
I saw Dwayne grab his guitar from out of the corner of my eye and I joined in on the raucous applause caused by the excited Ducks. Dwayne's manager patted him on the shoulder as he passed him and took his place behind the counter once again. Dwayne pulled up the stool from the back of the stage and sat down on it, bringing his guitar up into his lap.
"Hi y'all! I'm Dwayne. I'm gonna be singing a little song for y'all tonight. And I'd like to dedicate it to someone special." He said before starting the intro to the song. "Y/N, this one's for you."
Surprised, I looked at Dwayne with wide eyes. I certainly wasn't expecting him to dedicate his one song to me. But Dwayne just sent a smile my way before he started singing.
"I think she likes me, and I know I like her. It's kind of frightening, 'cause it's too soon to be sure. I think she likes me, maybe even might be love..."
I continued to stare wide eyed at Dwayne as I felt Connie nudge my shoulder.
"Should I be patient? Or should I ask her straight out? That smile she gave me, don't leave too much room for doubt. I think she likes me, maybe even might be love..."
The modest crowd started bopping along to the song, some tapping their feet to the beat.
"Our first kiss said more than 'good night'. I bet I've relived it a thousand times..."
I blushed at the lyrics but smiled all the same.
"I can't predict what the future's gonna bring. But those looks that she's been giving me can only mean one thing..."
People started to quietly clap along, including me. I turned briefly to look at Connie in excitement before returning my gaze back to Dwayne.
"I think she likes me, I think she might be the one. And more than likely, the best is still yet to come. I think she likes me, maybe even might be love..."
Dwayne repeated the chorus and finally played the last few chords of the song. The coffee house erupted in applause and some whistles from the Ducks. Dwayne tipped his hat to the audience and winked directly at me. My heart skipped a beat and my stomach did a flip. As he walked off the stage with his guitar, I was quick to jump out of my seat and follow after him.
"Dwayne!" I called out.
Dwayne set his guitar down on the counter behind him before turning to face me. "Did you like the song, Y/N?" He asked, looking at me bashfully.
"I loved it." I said with a smile.
"I was hoping you would." Dwayne said with a sigh of relief.
"And you were right." I said.
Dwayne gave me a questioning look.
I grabbed both of his hands and giggled. "I really like you, Dwayne."
It was Dwayne's turn to blush now. "Y/N?"
"Yeah?" I asked.
"W-will you g-go steady with me?" Dwayne asked, slightly stammering over his words.
I smiled even wider. "Yes!"
Dwayne smiled back at me before pulling me into him and placing a sweet kiss to my lips. Cheers were heard from behind me as Dwayne and I pulled apart. I turned to see the whole coffee house cheering for us. I laughed self-consciously but one look from Dwayne and all my nerves went away. Leaning up, I kissed him again.
'Oh, this boy!' I thought.
(A/N: Sorry this took me so long to get out but here it is! I hope you lovelies liked it! It was a fun one to write lol That's all for now! Until next time! Thanks!!)
