✨ Chapter 198 Recap✨
Denki Kaminari, drained from the Nighteye Agency incident and haunted by scars from his quirk, wandered Tokyo’s streets questioning his place in U.A.’s Hero Course. A cab ride to his aunt Kiko’s trauma center turned unsettling when the driver pressed him about F1 teams. Playing along, Denki answered “Red Bull,” masking his unease with caution. Music in his ear reminded him he was just a spark in the shadows—but even sparks can burn. Meanwhile, Class 1-A’s dorms erupted in laughter after Midoriya’s rambling blush, their warmth contrasting Denki’s heavy journey.

The cab driver narrowed his eyes, cigarette dangling from his lips.
“Why Red Bull, boya?”
Denki smirked, leaning back casually.
“Because speed is life. If you’re fast, the world likes you more. Keep the bonus, Mr… or should I say Twice?”.
The driver’s grin faltered. His voice cracked, muttering in overlapping tones:
“Oh really? Look—Izuku Midoriya around the corner, little hero! Me, Twice, pffft! Are you sure? No, no, no—I can’t let this cover blow. Shigaraki won’t like it…”.
Denki’s lips twitched in amusement. He could hear Twice babbling loudly, his theatrics filling the cab. With a sigh, Denki muttered, exasperated: “Look, I won’t fall for it.”
T
wice tilted his head, mask hiding his expression but his tone dripping with mock innocence.
“He’s coming over here, determined look and all…”
Wild hand gestures followed, his grip on the steering wheel erratic.
“Hey, hey, hey—he’s coming!”
Denki replied airily, refusing to budge.
“I’m not falling for it.”
Twice froze, then chuckled with a pleased look.
“If you say so… no, no, I’m a villain, I shouldn’t give him the upper hand. But you’re a cute hero. Oh look—the plain boy, greenie, worried face, scrunched nose, endless mutterings. He’s staring at you, hero. He’s here. Just behind you. One… two… three…”
Denki gulped, golden eyes widening slightly. He refused to turn, the busy street buzzing with strangers.
Twice gleefully jumped numbers in his countdown.
“Seven. Eight… ten!”
Denki’s panic spiked.
“You’re kidding, right!?”.
Against his better judgment, he glanced over his shoulder. No Midoriya. Just a random white cat grooming itself beside a telephone booth.
“F**k!” Denki cursed, earning reprimanding looks from passersby.
He ignored them, realizing he’d fallen for the oldest trick in the book.
Twice sped away in the cab, leaving smoke and dust choking the air. Denki coughed, muttering bitterly:
“Why was he disguised as a cab driver? Is the League of Villains keeping tabs on me? No… that can’t be possible.”
Shaking his head, Denki reminded himself of his true purpose.
“I came here to visit Aunt Kiko. I’ll lament about the League later. I can’t miss dorm curfew. Aizawa-sensei will understand… if I bring an apology letter signed by Aunt Kiko.”
Pulling out his phone, Denki typed in bold letters:
“Get Aunt Kiko’s signature + apology letter.”
He wasn’t going to mess up this timeline.
At the hospital gates, his steps hesitated. Hospitals always unsettled him. He hoped his aunt was in her cabin—she was the only family member who had cared for him during his darkest middle school years.
Moving in a daze, Denki reached the third floor, asked a nurse for directions, and finally stood outside her glass cabin. His heart thudded restlessly. Phantom pain from his scars burned. He clenched his fist, whispering:
“It hurts… damn it.”
Inside, Aunt Kiko sat exhausted, dark circles under her eyes, her flawless skin dulled by overwork. Denki inhaled deeply, then stepped in without knocking.
“Yo.”
She looked up, startled.
“You look tired.”
Denki grinned cheekily.
“Still, my face card managed to slay. Even the nurse fell for my charm and pointed me straight to your cabin.”
Kiko gave him a deadpan stare.
“They know you, Denki. You’re my only nephew.”
Denki mock-gasped.
“Oh my god, do they!?”
Her calm response caught him off guard. For once, he didn’t blush—he answered earnestly.
“
Of course they do.”
Kiko blinked, surprised at his composure. She had expected nervousness, not calm confidence.
Denki pivoted quickly, rubbing his neck.
“Hey, um… to be honest, I was around this area for hero studies. I felt kind of homesick and wanted to meet you.”
Her warm smile softened the air.
“It’s nice to see you well. I was worried hero studies might make you forget about me.”
Denki blurted out in one breathless rush:
“CanIgetahug?”
Silence hung for a moment, the overhead light flickering like divine irony.
Denki’s face went crimson, ears pink. Then, both aunt and nephew burst out laughing, their bond rekindled in shared honesty.
