It was Yoongi's graduation party today. It was all about Yoongi; Jimin knew that and was okay with that.
Yoongi's official graduation ceremony was the day before. Jimin and Yoongi's family were extremely proud of him. He worked so hard to get here and deserved this moment. It was also nice that they got priority seating because Yoongi's dad is disabled and can't climb stairs, so they were right in front.
His work had no problem allowing him to take the day off, as it was on a weekday. Quite frankly, they already valued Yoongi as an employee and were eager for him to get his degree officially, especially because that meant he would start getting paid a little more. With Jimin still out of work, it was helpful for a pay raise. Not that Jimin didn't already feel guilty, he definitely did, but he wasn't exactly making a lot of effort looking for work anymore. He didn't really have the motivation to do so. He wasn't good at anything and didn't think he could learn a new skill, so, really, what was the point? He didn't tell Yoongi, though. Not yet anyway. One reason was that he didn't want to disappoint Yoongi, and Ji-Hyun, for that matter, and the other was because he was ashamed. He wasn't qualified for anything, really. He was a college dropout. That doesn't exactly look great to prospective companies looking to hire competent people. That would stick with him for a while.
He also definitely didn't want to tell Yoongi what Jungkook told him not too long ago- that Jimin's mom had called Jungkook's house looking for Jimin, wanting to talk. Jungkook told Jimin in person this morning when he came to Yoongi's house to help Yoongi's parents set up for the graduation party. Junkook didn't want to tell Jimin, but also didn't want to keep something like that from him, nor did he want Jimin to possibly hear it from someone else. He had to. Jimin was upset, of course, but he needed to hear it. Jungkook told Jimin to try not to let it get to him today. Jungkook was supportive of his friend but also knew how important this celebration was to Yoongi and his family. He would tell Yoongi the next day or the day after. He didn't really know what to do or how to think.
Jimin hadn't seen his mom since the night he was kicked out. What could she possibly say to him that she couldn't that night? What was so important to say now that she was unable to relay to him that night? He was angry, upset, everything. She didn't even attempt to support him or stand up for him when his father called him a slur, not even when he menacingly walked toward Jimin filled with rage.
He was looking at himself in the mirror in the bathroom with the sink running when he heard a knock at the door.
"One second!" He yelled, being brought back to reality.
He steadied his breathing, shut the water off, and wiped the frustrated tears away from his eyes.
He opened the door and was greeted by one of Yoongi's relatives; he can't remember which one, but still bowed and held the door open for them to enter the bathroom.
