Wei Wuxian sat with his back against a tree, his legs out stretched in front of him, his eyes closed, his arms fold against his chest. He was trying to relax. Trying to get his mind right, his thought straight.

He was under a lot of pressure, and wanted just ten minutes away from everything and everyone.

As future heir and alpha to the Jiang Clain and Lotus Peir there was a lot of pressure on his shoulders. There were a lot of people relaying on him. His whole clan was relying on him. People needed to be fed, small battles needed to be fought and won. Peace treaties needed to be looked over and sign.

That was just the tip of everything sitting on his shoulders.

He just wanted a moment of peace.

Tilting his head back slightly, Wei took a deep breath, exhaling slowly, the bright sun rays blanketing his face in warmth.

It was a warm day. The sun was shining bright, there was a strong cool breeze coming from the south. A storm was coming and Wei Wuxian couldn't wait. He adored a good rain storm.

He smiled faintly as another sent floated around the air. The scent of lavender and rain. The ultimate scent in his eyes. A scent he loved more than anything in this world. The scent that brought him peace when nothing else could.

He knew what that scent meant and what would follow.

He could feel his heart start pounding loudly in his chest, his breathing picking up slightly.

That scent only meant one thing.

"Ugh. I am so annoyed." A soft voice said bringing Wei out of his thoughts as something heavy landed on his legs.

Without opening his eyes. Wei placed his hand gentle on the object his face remaining still, his eyes closed. "what has annoyed you?"

"My father has arranged a marriage for me. I fought him on it. I told him I didn't want it. I didn't want to go against fate and marry someone that I didn't love. That wasn't my fated mate. He wouldn't listen. Said the marriage would happen in one month."

The news had Wei eyes popping open, looking down instantly.

Laying with his head in Wei lap was his fated mate. Lan Wangi omega from a different clan. His one and only beloved.

Lan Wangi was the Jade prince from the Lan clan Gusu. Their families have always been rivals in certain areas, while allies in others.

They had grown up beside each other, with Wei being only three years older than Lan Wangi

The had always been close as brothers, fighting, each other, yet protecting each other against those that wished them harm.

Wei had always had feelings for Lan, even though he knew it was against everything. He fought hard against the feelings that had seem to grow day by day, for his friend.

It wasn't till his eighteenth birthday when his wolf fully awaken, and his true alpha power came to light, that he stopped fighting the feelings.

Lan had been beside him when it happen. They had gone camping and fishing the night before.

Wei had woken Lan up on accident tossing and turning in their make shift ten, his body on fire.

The moment their eyes met, they knew.

They were mates.

Lan had ran away refusing to speak to Wei for two full weeks, driving Wei crazy.
