Anna's Pov
"Where were you yesterday?" David questions, biting into his chocolate chip cookie. He stares right into my eyes, making my heart flutter.
"Oh just at the library. Needed to do some homework and stuff." I pick the the loose thread on the hem of my sweater.
"Liar!" Riley accuses from behind, startling David and I. "I passed by the library and you were talking to this guy! Who is he?"
Why does Riley have to ruin everything? What do you expect me to say? Oh, I just wanted to avoid David because I have feelings for him. Oh yeah! And I met a really cute boy who I think David is jealous of. No biggie.
If only things weren't so complicated.
"He's just a friend. I just ran into him." I reply nonchalantly, or at least trying to.
"Wait, is it that boy you were talking to by your locker?" David asks, visibly tensing at the mention of the brunette. "Who is he? If he even tries anything with you I swear I'll-"
"As I mentioned before, he's just a friend. Take a chill pill. Sheesh, no need to get all fired up." I raise my hands in surrender.
"Okay. I just want to make sure nothing bad happens to you. You mean a lot to me." David mumbles quietly. By the way he widens his eyes in horror, I knew his statement wasn't meant to be heard.
I mean a lot to him?
I look down at my lap, desperately biting my lip in attempt to hide my huge grin. I could practically feel my cheeks flame up.

"You ready?" David asks, slinging his backpack over his shoulder.
"Yep, lets go!" I cheer as we exit the school. The weather was a bit chilly, but bearable. The wind blew against my face, and I could see the sun starting to set early due to daylight savings.
David and I both walk in my house, kick off our shoes, and throw our backpacks by the staircase. I trudge towards my room, snatching our unfinished model and head downstairs. I huff out the hair in front of my face and grab the supplies in my the storage closet.
Take three.
"Okay, we seriously need to finish this today. No more takes, no more delays, let's get this shizzle done." I say, crossing my legs. I reach for the paint and pour some on a paper plate.
I dip in my paintbrush and start to work in silence.
"Okay." David sighs, mimicking my actions. "What do you want to do after we finish this?"
"I don't know. I'd like to go to the icecream shop, but it's winter. We'll see." I cover the cone-like structure in paint, smiling at my work. Even though it isn't much, it's a start.
The past hour was spent working hard on our project, in comfortable silence. Somehow, the hour felt like fifteen minutes. During the time, David and I attempted to steal glances at one another. Occasionally, we would catch each other's eye and look down immediately.
"Baboom! We are finally done! Thank God!" I exclaim, collapsing on the floor.
I stare up at the ceiling, but my view is blocked when David peers over at me.
"So, what do you wanna do?" He asks.
"I-I don't know." I stutter, pretty dazed by the close proximity. I could feel my cheeks tinge red as a blush crept up my neck. "What do you think?"
"Well, what about that ice cream date you mentioned?" A grin spread across his face.
But the thing I could only think about was date. What did it mean? Was he asking me on a date? does he like me? Do he consider this as a hang out between good old friends, like the good old friends that he thinks we are?
Thought consumed and swirled around in my mind and I only managed to stutter out, "W-w-what d-do.. a date?"
"Yeah," He did not care to move a slight inch, "Like the ones where people that are together talk and spend time with one another."
"I'm sorry.. WE'RE TOGETHER?" My voice heightened ten times than my regular tone did and I could see him slightly furrow his brows, until realization struck his face.
"Oh! I didn't mean it like that! We are together as like in the same place." He scratched the back of his neck lightly, and this was when I knew I messed up bad.
Stupid Stupid Stupid Stupid.
"O-oh."
Stupid.
"Well, if you want it to be one, then uh.."
"No, it's fine." I cut him off, and I blew air out of my nose in frustration.
STUPID.
"I was just being stupid like I usually am!" I plastered a fake smile on my face and I felt as if I wanted to throw him off of me and stomp on his handsome little face.
It wouldn't be so handsome after that though.
"Don't think that; I wasn't really clear on what I said. It's all my fault, so don't even worry about it."
"Why would I?" I managed to guffaw out a nervous laugh. "It's not like I was expecting someone to ask me out on a date or anything. PSSHHH, how ridiculous would that be right??? Besides, it's not like I have guys lining up for me that are desperate to hang out with me."
"There is one guy that I know that is." He whispered, and my ears perk up immediately.
"L-like who?"
"Sometimes you feel like you have to search for the right guy, but sometimes he just might me right under your nose."
Next thing I know, his lips were on mine.
Do I know why? I guess he has his reasons.
