We all know that Clarisse had a secret talent: baking cookies that was worthy of completely demolishing even the Demeter children's cookies. But had anyone actually managed to get her to tell how she actually learned to make them? Yes, actually, and that was Chuck Hedge. He actually got Clarisse to tell him why (obviously because she had a soft spot for him; godmother and all), and it was actually because back in her hometown in Phoenix, Arizona, her mother used to bake her a few tray of cookies every Christmas, even if that seemed like a little too much. Even after half-moving to Camp Half-Blood as her semi-permanent home, Clarisse would occasionally visit her. The cookies were a reminder to her of the affection between mother and child, and she gained that skill to tell herself that even if she wasn't that well liked, she was always loved by her mother. Hence, every Christmas that she stayed in Camp Half-Blood, she would secretly bake and sometimes leave them on the beds of the younger Ares children (either that or she ate them herself).
