Thalico Special (Valentine's Day One-Shot)

"Where the Hades is the ring!?" Nico yelled. He fumbled around, tossing piles of clothes across the room. Balls of crumpled paper littered the floor. The bed was messy and the sheets were spread on the floor. The desk was overturned. The lamp was on fire. Nothing unusual there. Just the crazy looking Nico, which made him look utterly terrifying considering he always had a certain dark, uncontrollable side to him. But then again he looked like that majority of the days. He started inspecting the jars of Greek fire when a voice echoed in the room.

"Looking for something?"

Nico spun around. "Stoll," he growled. "Give it back." The amused face of Travis Stoll chuckled. Dangling between his thumb and forefinger was a beautiful ruby and black diamond encrusted ring. In the center was very detailed bewitching purple crystal flower.

Travis smirked. "You have to tell me who it's for first."

Nico rolled his eyes. "Just give it back, okay?" He reached for the ring but Travis tossed it up and caught it in midair. "Not until you tell me."

Nico mumbled something like 'ter-ee-yuh.'

"What was that? Couldn't hear you." Travis teased.

"It's for Thalia okay!? I want it to be a surprise. Please, don't say anything."

"Don't worry, I won't. Just wanted to know." he smirked before tossing the ring low to Nico. Nico caught it in just the nick of time before glaring at Travis.

"Remember, DON'T tell ANYONE." he warned.

"Right, tell everyone."

"NO YOU IDIOT!"

"I know, I know, just messing with you. Well bye!"

Travis went away skipping. Nico shook his head. When was he going to learn, he thought. "Alright." he said to himself. "Let's go."

Nico went outside. He clasped the ring in his hand and ran to find his one love. Then he saw her, just sitting there in the middle of the beach. No one was around. Strange. This is it, he thought. The moment. He used all his willpower to walk over to her.

"Thalia?"

Without even glancing up, she responded, "Hey Nico."

Nico sensed something was wrong. Thalia's tone was shaky and cracking. Her eyes were wet and glassy and her lips were trembling.

Nico wasn't sure what to say. He knew Thalia was very unpredictable. She could go into a raging fit at any moment. But he did so anyway.

"Thalia what's wrong? Is there something bothering you?"

She looked at him and smiled. "Thanks for asking. Yeah I'm okay. It's just..." She turned away and refused to meet his eyes. "Today's Valentine's Day. I'm just wondering, does anybody love me? Does anybody even like me? I know now after I quit being a Huntress that nobody cares for me. Maybe Percy and Annabeth but they have their own life." She started sniffling.

Nico took her hand. "Hey that's not true. I care for you. Everybody does."

"Really? How can you be sure?"

"Because of this." NIco pulled her in and kissed her. Her eyes were wide open but soon she closed them and didn't bother to fight back.

After the kiss, NIco said "See? That's how much I care for you. I love you."

"I.. I love you too."

Nico took out the ring. "Then wouldyou have the pleasure of being my Valentine and girlfriend?"

"I didn't even know you celebrated Valentine's Day but yes. YES! I would!" Thalia started crying and hugged Nico.

Nico slipped the ring on her finger and they kissed again. "You changed my perspective of that."

Suddenly, campers filed around them. Most were grinning and cheering. Others were just smiling.

Nico knew what to do. "TRAVIS!!!" he shouted. Travis stepped forward looking scared but Nico did the most unexpected thing.

He grinned. "What's the next step?" Travis brightened up. Then his face softened. "We leave you in peace."

Nico looked surprised. "Really? Thanks."

Travis saluted and ordered the campers to leave. He winked at Nico.

Thalia looked up at Nico, who was an inch taller than her. They stared at each other until Nico spoke up.

"Thank you for being my Valentine."

"No, thank you for making my Valentine's Day. I've never felt this happy in years."

They kissed and everything didn't matter. They were together. Finallyyyy.
