When Octavian and Rachel got married, they would have small arguments from time to time.
"Rachel, you need to stop leaving your painting equipment on the floor and places where our children can reach them. Now Colin has paint all over him." Octavian shouted from the bathroom, scrubbing his 3 year old son clean.
"But YOU need to stop cutting open Casey's teddy bears! Do you know she lost 5 of them this week because of your sacrifices?" Rachel yelled back from the kitchen, holding her 5 year old daughter.
"It's not my fault! I have to do it. It's Roman tradition." Octavian retorted. Rachel snorted.
"And do you know how much I had to go through just so we could be together? Try having a spirit inside of you. I had to go through a lot, you know. Just to be with you." She stopped whatever she was doing and came to him. She set her daughter down and crossed her arms. "I don't want to do this if we can't get along anymore." Octavian, who had just finished dressing Colin, stopped. "What?"
He looked at his wife and saw that she was crying. "Rachel..." He stood up and hugged her tightly. Their kids, quite uninterested, played with some toys and watched TV. She cried in his shoulder. "We can never agree on anything anymore. I just don't want to live like this."
"I'm sorry." Octavian whispered. "It will get better."
"What if it doesn't?! What will happen to Colin and Casey?" she sniffed. Her face was seriously starting to look as red as her hair.
"Rachel, we will get through this. We've been married for nearly 8 years, and I'm not going to let you go, understand? I promise, from this day forward I will do my best to keep this household together. I'm the father, it's my job. But you are the mother. You cannot walk out just like that." His voice turned gentler. "We've got to do this. For our kids. For us."
Rachel stared at him and nodded her head. "We'll get through this." She hugged him back. "Through all our arguments, know that I'll always love you, through all our ups and downs." Octavian whispered. Rachel, teary eyed, whispered back, "I'll always love you too."
And since that day, no arguments broke out. They had both kept their promise. They kept the household together. They stayed together. Because they knew, they were not going to survive without each other.

I think this is a one-shot? *PewDiePie voice* I don't even know anymore. And the chapter I'm rewriting? I'm still deciding between two alternate endings. Two feel breaking alternate endings.
