Jason and Reyna walked hand in hand as they strolled down the busy city of New Rome. The used-to-be-co-praetors navigated their way through the jostling streets, avoiding as much of contact with other people as possible. They reached the bakery, and bought a large doughnut to share. They split it in half, popping a piece of one half to the other's mouth. Reyna felt happy. She felt free. This was what she wanted her whole life. To be more than friends. To know love. And she got the boy she loved from the beginning.
Jason started skipping, tagging her along with him. Raindrops started to fall. Bringing her closer, Jason started singing, "Rain, rain go away. ReyRey wants to play today." His next lines were jumbled, probably because he couldn't find the right words to say. Reyna laughed, a hearty laugh and Jason joined her. The rain started to become heavier, each one making a loud splat as it hit the ground. They made their way to a coffee shop nearby, laughing as they crashed into the store.
"That was fun! We should do it again. Are you too wet?" Jason asked, ruffling his hair so the rainwater would get out.
"No, I'm not. Thank you for asking." she said sarcastically, squeezing her totally wet hair and drenched clothes.
Jason chuckled and kissed her forehead. "Come on now. That's what a caring boyfriend is, right?"
"I suppose. That was actually a lot of fun." she admitted.
Jason booked a table and they sat down, the half eaten half doughnuts still in their hands. They talked, every once in a while laughing. Soon the rain settled and Reyna actually felt sad. This meant they had to go out. They stepped outside, right into a puddle. Fortunately for Jason, he was wearing water proof shoes but Reyna wasn't so lucky. Her exposed feet plus sandals were covered with mud and rainwater. Jason noticed and chided, "Tsk tsk tsk. We can't have that now, can we?"
He picked her up bridal style, letting her feet dangle freely. He did this the whole day, until they reached camp. Just before the sun was gone, Reyna noticed some colours in the sky.
"Jason," she said softly. "Look at the rainbow. It looks so beautiful."
Jason thought for a while. "Pardon my cheesyness, but it's not as beautiful as you."
Reyna smiled broadly as she hugged him tightly. "That's not cheesy at all Jason. Not at all."
