I waited silently in the elevator, sighing to myself as I listened to the silence. I wanted to take the stairs, the silence was killing me.

I looked around at them, my eyes meeting nothing but a bunch of vacant stairs. I tapped to foot, stopping when I felt eyes on the back of my head.

I sighed, looking beside me. The open spot next to me made my heart drop. I knew if Dan was here, we'd both just try our best not to laugh, as awkward silences is always funny to us.

The elevator doors finally opened, and I stepped out, walking towards the exit of the store. I was leaving empty handed, but I did do a lot of returning of clothes I'd probably never wear again. Now that the whole Zoella mystery is over, I decided to give away or return a whole bunch of her clothes. Cheerleaders and Vanessa bought most of the clothes for plenty of money, but the only thing I kept was the fake nose piercing. I needed some kind of token.

As I got on the bus, I put my earbuds in, crossing my legs awkwardly. I clicked play, listening to the lyrics closely.

Halfway through the song, my music stopped and my phone rang. I looked down at the caller ID, thinking it was dad. Instead, I was met by a name I didn't think I'd see on my screen again.

"Hello?"

"Zoe.." It was Kenton.

I gulped, "Yeah?" I stuttered a little, scared of what he had to say.

"I can't believe that it's really you.. Under all of that.. Why?"

I blinked, "I mean.." I felt my heart race. This was what I was afraid of the most: confrontation. "I'm sorry."

"Don't apologize to me." He laughed. "Apologize to the man who was in love with you."

"Pardon?"

"My best friend, you idiot!" He cried out, making me blink for a longer time than I intended. "Dan! He loved you Zoe!"

"I know.."

"He loved you more than anything in the world. How do I know? I've read his texts to Ned. I've heard the way he speaks about you. He's madly in love with Zoella, and you just crushed that for him!"

I felt tears pricking the corners of my eyes, "Kenton stop-"

"No, let me speak!" He was more than mad, he was infuriated. He seemed like he could punch a hole through a wall right now. "How could you just do that? You were all he had after Kate."

I shook my head, "Stop it."

"You're just a heartbreaker."

"No I'm not."

"Do you feel good about yourself? Knowing you broke someone's heart?" He scoffed. "I'm sure you do."

I pressed the stop button on the bus, quickly getting off and looking around at the area I was in. Perfect.

I hung up on Kenton, making way for my next destination. I left my music playing, pushing my glasses up the bridge of my nose. After a couple of songs, I rang Ned's doorbell, tapping my foot impatiently.
