Chapter 33

The ride home was silent other than the radio playing.
We were about half way there when my phone started ringing.
Shawn turned the radio down and I answered.

"Hello?"

"MEGAN OH MY GOD!"

"Gemma whats wrong?"

"YOU WILL NOT BELIEVE WHO MY BROTHER IS FRIENDS WITH!"

"Which one you've got like 4."

"Bradley."

"Ok so your oldest one. Alright, who's he friends with?"

"ONE FUCKING DIRECTION AND 5 SECONDS OF SUMMER!"

"NO FUCKING WAY!"

"YES FUCKING WAY!"

"OH MY GOD! GEMMA WHY'RE YOU JUST TELLING ME THIS NOW?!"

"BECAUSE THEY'RE AT MY HOUSE JUST NOW!"

I heard a voice in the background that sounded like Luke Hemmings and I lost it.
I started crying a little and then Gemma did too.

"OH MY GOD MEGAN YOU HAVE TO COME OVER!"

"I can't Gem."

"Why not?"

I laughed a little.

"Because I'm spending the night with Shawn."

"You always spend the night with him."

"Well yeah because I love him."

"ok fine well hang on."

She asked Bradley how long they're staying with them and she screamed loud enough that Shawn could hear it like he was in the room with her.

"Gemma why the fuck did you scream again?"

"THEY'RE LIVING WITH US! SINCE 1D IS ON A HIATUS THEY'RE STAYING WITH US FOR THE WHOLE TIME + LONGER AND SO IS 5SOS!!!"

"IM SPENDING THE NIGHT TOMORROW!"

"YES YES YOU ARE ANYWAYS I GOTTA GO. LOVE YOU LOTS!"

"Love you too Gem."

I hung up and Shawn laughed as he stopped the Jeep.

"What?"

"Fangirl much?"

"Hey, dont judge me. It's 5sos and 1D."

"Ooohhh now I see."

I laughed and then we got out of the car and went inside.

"Mum!!!! I'm home!"

There was no reply so we walked upstairs and I heard quiet sobs.

"What the hell..."

"What?"

"Hang on.."

I let go of his hand and walked to Aaliyahs room, that's where they were coming from.
I knocked on the door and instantly that crying stopped.

"Aaliyah?"

"W-what?"

"Can I come in?"

"Is it just you?"

"Yeah... Shawns in his room."

"Then come in..."

I opened her door and closed it behind me.

"Aaliyah.. Whats wrong?"

"D-dad said that h-he didn't want to be with m-mum anymore."

Oh my gosh.

"Did he say why?"

"H-he said he found someone in C-california that he l-loved better"

So that's probably why he was never here.
I've never met him but I've seen pictures of him on Shawn and Aaliyahs Instagram.
I pulled her into a hug and then there was another knock at the door.

"Aaliyah?"

It was Karen.
Since Aaliyah wasn't talking, I told her to come in and she did.

"Oh no..."

"Karen I am so sorry..."

She had tears in her eyes too but she wasn't crying.

"Have you told Shawn?"

She shook her head no.

"That seems reasonable."

"Aaliyah sweetie, this is just something we'll have to live with. We've been doing it for the past few months we can do it longer. Plus, we've got Megan to help us."

Aaliyah smiled a little and then sat on her bed inbetween Karen and I.

"Mum.. Can I nap in Shawns room?"

"If he lets you then yes."

"Megan, you coming?"

Before I could answer, Karen spoke.

"Yes shes coming Liyah... I'll just talk to her a little."

"Ok."

Aaliyah got up and went to Shawns room and then Karen started crying a little.

"Hey hey hey don't cry."

She hugged me and I hugged her back and continued speaking.

"I know what you're going through and I promise, it will get better. It just takes time."

She looked up at me a little confused.

"My dad left my mom and brothers and I when my brothers and I were just little. I thought it was the end if everything but it wasn't. It got better and now she's got a new boyfriend. Things will get better over time... They always do."

She smiled and whipped her tears.

"Thank you, Megan."

"You're welcome."

I smiled and then she said that I should go to Shawns room and so I did.
And when I got there, Shawn looked upset.
Oh no.... Aaliyah told him....
