"Jerome pass the ball to Josh quickly " Nathan shouted. "Cmon lets go" Nathan said while clapping his hands. It was 8pm and Nathan the star point guard on the UCLA basketball college team. Nathan was also studying to become a teacher. So he decided to volunteer in his spare time in downtown L.A to help kids who were from disadvantaged backgrounds to get off the streets and play basketball. He loved it. He loved the kids, they were like his little brothers and he protected them like a big brother. They were his team. Sure he loved his boys on the UCLA team, but in his opinion there was no greater feeling than watching a disadvantaged kid realising they had potential to do something in life. Tim Wilkinson was the team manager and had noticed when Nathan and his team came to visit them three months ago, how well Nathan bonded with the kids. Tim loved the fact that Nathan didnt want any money, trophy or medal, he just wanted to see the kids happy.
"Haha alright guys a few more minutes before we wrap it up" Tim shouted. Danny caught the ball. Nathan knew he was very short, as he was the youngest and couldnt shoot properley. So he went over lifted him up "go on dan, slam dunk" he smiled. Dan put the ball in the basket. "yeah man" Nathan smiled while spinning him round and put him down. He gave him a high five. "Okay guys time to wrap it up" Tim shouted. Nathan smiled, and helped Tim finish the coaching session.
At the end.
"Bye guys" Nathan smiled holding his kitbag, while waving to them. "Bye" the group shouted back to him. He got in his audi A3 and drove back to UCLA.
Meanwhile with Demi.
Demi left her apartment, to go on a date with Wilmer her boyfriend of two years. She met her boyfriend outside the aparmtent, she kissed him sweetly. He smiled, nervously and drove to the Italian restaurant in uptown L.A. When they arrived they walked in and sat down. Wilmer made a reservation earlier on. The waiter walked over. "hey can I get you a drink" he asked "I'll have a water please" Demi smiled. "yeah make that two." he said. The waiter nodded and walked off. After they got their drinks. "So I've been thinking...about us" Wilmer said "yeah" Demi smiled flirtatiously, thinking he wanted to talk about THEIR future together. "I wanted to do this face to face...I think we should see other people. I mean I'm 32. I wanto to settle down, have a family. You're 21 you have your career ahead of you. I'm sorry hermosa. I think it'd be for the best" Wilmer said. "So youre breaking up with me. Because i'm too young" Demi said sadly. "I love you. Demi I really do but its for the best" Wilmer said. Demi shook her head "Whatever Wilmer. I thought we were forever. i guess not" she cried and walked out of the restsurant. He followed her.
Nathan was driving down the road when he saw a couple having an arguement. He could see the man had his hand round her arm tightly and she was obviously struggling. He pulled up outside the restaurant. "hey dude back off !" he pushed wilmer off the girl "are you okay" Nathan asked "I'm fine both of you just leave me alone" she snapped and walked off. "That was none of your buisness" WIlmer said pushing him "when it comes to hurting a girl it becomes my buisness" Nathan said pushing him back. Wilmers bodyguard came and split the start of a possible fight up "cmon wil, hes not worth it hes just a stupid college kid" he said and walked away with Wilmer. Wilmer stormed off and Nathan got back in his car. He saw the girl walking down the road in just a thin jacket. It was -1 degrees outside. Nathan rolled down the window "hey do you need a ride" he asked the girl. "No" she snapped at him "Please its gonna be freezing tonight. How far away do you live." Nathan asked "I don't know you. I'll call my friend to pick me up. I don't need your help" she said angrily. "Mphmm fine" Nathan said and pulled up next to her. "What are you doing" she said "waiting with you till you call your friend" Nathan said "you don't need to" she snapped. "I know but I know what the crimes like in these parts. The criminals from downtown come up here pray on girls who are alone and do horrific things to them" Nathan said "oh yeah and you would know" she said not believing him. "yeah I do. My sister was attacked in uptown L.A, she's lucky to be alive" Nathan said. Demi looked at him "fine you can wait with me" she said, giving up.
