Nathan walked out LAX airport, he saw his father waiting by the car. He walked over and gave him a hug "hey son" he said. "Hey dad, how are things?" he said returning the hug "fantastic son, how are things with the restaurant" he said pulling away "Yeah they're good, everything is going to plan" he said. Nathan was the buisness manager for his fathers restaurant, over the last few years he and his father had traveled around the world, opening Luke's cafe in different cities all around. Nathan had spent the last two years in Europe making sure everything was running smoothly. He had spent a lot of time in buisness meetings, with lawyers, accountants and hiring staff. He was so happy to be home and to come back to Calabassas permanently. The only time he'd be going back to Europe would be if there was a problem and depending on the problem it may be his dad who would have to head over.
On the way to the house, he spoke to his dad about the business flourishing. Luke was really proud of his son, he had taken over the main business side of the restaurant and had flourished into an excellent businessman. Not only this but his son, was a good person. He had his head on straight, he was kind and respectful to everyone he knew and this made him and Lorelai even prouder. "So what was mom saying about a sweet 16 tonight?" he asked "Oh yes, it's Maddie De Le Garza's 16th birthday tonight and we got invited as a family" Luke said "Demi's sister?" Nathan asked "it is....and I'm assuming she'll be there" Luke said, he shrugged. His dad smiled "what?" Nathan asked "nothing, just it's obvious you like her" Luke said "I don't. I used to but...I realised she wasn't interested a long time ago" he said. Luke looked at him "it took me years to date your mom. Love takes time. I saw your mom go through so many failed relationships and then she figured it out for herself" Luke said taking his hand off the steering wheel, and patted his shoulder. Nathan smiled reassuringly, letting his dad know he was okay.
Nathan spent the rest of the afternoon, talking to his parents about the business and how their lives were. His baby sister was with Maddie, helping her get ready for her birthday party. He then began to get his suit on, he started to feel a little nervous about seeing Demi again, it had been a few years since they saw one another. Things had changed in that time, both had gotten older, more mature. But his feelings seemed to have not gone anywhere. Every magazine he saw, every time he saw her on television or youtube. His heart skipped a beat, he had watched her documentary on you tube and he felt so proud of her achievements and her sobriety. However she probably wouldn't recognize him and he knew she wasn't interested he wasn't expecting anything to happen at all tonight.

Nathan and his parents walked into the De Le Garza mansion. Suki, Lorelai's best friend walked out "there he is!" she beamed and walked over to hug him "Hey Suk" he smiled and returned the bear hug "How was Europe" she asked "it was awesome, made some real progress. You catering tonight?!" he asked "I am indeed, with help from your momma" she smiled "that's awesome, well done" he smiled. They said goodbye to Suki, as she had to get back to the kitchen. They walked to the back garden and then saw her laughing and dancing with her friends. He smiled, she looked so beautiful and angelic. He loved seeing her so happy.

Demi laughed, dancing with her friends and sister. She then saw her sisters best friend run to a curly haired man. They embraced and they walked over with Lorelai and Luke, Bea's parents. "Hey happy birthday Maddie" he smiled, before giving Maddie a hug "Thanks Nath" she said. He then smiled and walked away to get a drink. Demi thought it was strange that he didn't make an effort to talk to her, she decided to walk over and talk to him. She tapped his shoulder at the bar, he turned around "Hey Demi" he said before taking a swig of his drink "Hey, how's things" she asked leaning on the bar "awesome, thankyou. Yeah the business is really taking off in Europe and it's going really well over here" he said. Demi looked at him properly he wasn't the skinny teenager anymore who straightened his hair. He now had natural curls, stubble and was in shape. She could see his muscles bulging in his tight shirt. He looked smart in a navy suit and tie with a white shirt. He had certainly grown up since she saw him last. He was gorgeous, she thought as she looked in his green eyes, which the disco lights bounced off. He smiled at her "So tell me about you, how's the career going?" he asked "It is awesome, yeah the new album is doing really well in the charts and life is really good" she said with a smile. "That's awesome, you look really good" he said, smiling at her "You too, you've grown up alott since I last saw you" she said, biting her lip. He blushed "yeah I decided I couldn't be bothered to straighten my hair" he said, with a small smile. He looked at her "so, um do you want to go and get some food at some point?" he asked "like a date?" she asked "uh ye-" he said, before being interrupted "Hey babe" a latino man said, wrapping his arms behind her. "uh hey Bomba" she said. Nathan nodded "forget I said anything, sorry" he said before walking away.
He walked over to his mom "Hey mom, I'm gonna get going. I feel really jet lagged and ill" he said "oh okay hunny do you want your dad to drive you home sweetie" she asked "uh no, I want to walk home, thanks momma" he said before kissing her cheek. Loralei noticed he was a bit down, she walked over to her husband "I think something happened to Nath, he's heading back. Before he leaves can you make sure he's alright, I'm worried" he said. "Of course, I'll go and see how he is" Luke said before kissing her cheek. He tried to catch up with his son. "Nath, wait up" he said. His son turned around and forced a smile "kiddo, you okay?" he asked "Yeah dad, I just don't feel well" he said "I saw you talking to Demi? Everything okay?" he asked "Uh, I tried to ask her out, turns out she a has boyfriend....I was stupid to think she was single. I just want to go home" he said. Luke nodded "okay son. Do you need a ride?" he asked "no thanks, i'm going to walk" he said "Okay well call us when you get home okay" he said. Nathan nodded "sure" he whispered and walked away.

"What the hell Bomba" Demi said, pushing his arms off him "cmon Demi, I was joking. Not my fault if he has a stick up his arse" he said "this is why, we're not gonna get back together" she said before walking off to find Nathan. She saw Lorealai and walked over to her, as she saw Luke walking out the party "Hi, Loralei is Nathan okay" she asked "Yeah hun, just jet lag!" she smiled. Demi nodded with a smile "He's okay. I just think he's tired" Loralei said.
Demi tried to have a good time, for the rest of the party but she felt a little bad, as Nathan looked a bit down as he walked away. She tried to ring him, but it went through to voicemail. She excused herself and left the party, she went out and got in her car, drove off to find Nathan.
She drove down past the beach, when she saw a familiar figure sitting on the top of a bench, she parked the car, got out and walked out. "Thought I'd find you here" she said. He turned his head, in the streetlights he saw Demi walking towards him. "What's up?" he asked "nothing much, you seemed kinda down when you left?" she asked. He shrugged "Just jet lag, i'm fine. You can get back to that guy now" he said, before getting up. "He's just a friend" she said "whatever, Demi" he said "why are you being like this?" she asked "being like what? We don't talk in years and now your all of a sudden on my back" he said "I just came to see if you were okay" she said "what thought i was gonna try and top myself again?!" he said before walking off.
She followed him, "why are you being such an ass?" she asked. He sighed and turned around "I'm sorry,... just forget it" he said "No this is the second time you've said this, forget what?" she said getting annoyed "I wanted to ask you on a date, but you obviously have a boyfriend. I just felt stupid" he said looking down. "Bomba is an ex....he is just a friend now though. I don't know why I invited him to be honest, my family hate him..."she said. He nodded, she still saw something was on his mind. "what's up Nath?" she asked "I uh...I'm inlove with you, have been for five years" he said. Demi looked at him shocked "shit! Sorry that was too fast I'm an idiot, fogret I said anythi-" he was interrupted by Demi kissing him softly.

Once he had said those three words, she knew that she loved him too. Her heart took over her body and she walked over to him and just kissed him softly on the lips. He kissed back and it felt like a million fireworks going off.
They knew it was LOVE.
