Jay went down to the lobby, he checked his watch it was 18:55. He was really excited but also very nervous. He already really liked this girl, she was beautiful and sophisticated and way out of his league. He looked at himself in the lift mirror, one more time before checking his shirt and adjusting the roses. He walked out of the lift and waited in a seat in the lobby.

Raquelle answered the door, it was her friends. Shed been ignoring them for the last hour, she wanted to be alone. Courtney hugged her tightly after seeing the tears streaming down her face "what happened?" Selena asked concerned. "He had a date before me...I came up to get ready and I saw a girl going into his hotel room with him and she had roses and a gift bag...I'm such an idiot" she said wiping her tears away "what a jerk!" Selena said joining the hug. "Yeah you don't need an ass like that" Ashley agreed and joined the group hug. "How about we get some room service and have a girls night?" Selena asked "I'd like that" Raquelle said.

Two hours later
Jay was still waiting in the lobby for Raquelle. His step dad walked in with his friends from the lift "ah man" he said when he saw Jay looking defeated. "I'll catch you guys up" he said. The others looked on sympathetically, they really felt for Jay. "Hiya mate" Greg said as he approached Jay "she didn't show" he said quietly. Greg could tell he was disappointed and upset. He put his hand on his shoulder and kneeled next to him "I'm so sorry son" he said, not knowing what to say. "I thought she wanted to go on a date with me. I would've rather she just said no....I dragged Gaia out to get me a stupid shirt" Jay said "this isn't about the shirt is it?" Greg asked. Jay rubbed his eyes, trying to hide him wiping tears "I just was really excited to get to know her. I was so happy she said yeah. I took a chance and it didn't work" he said "so what, it didn't work. She shouldn't have stood you up. But you were brave enough to ask her on a date and you should be proud of that. You are a good man son, and the right girl will see that" he said. Jay nodded "thanks dad" he said. Greg kissed his son's head and hugged him.
It hurt to see Jay so cut up about this girl. He had never seen him like this before and he didn't like it. Even though Jay wasn't his biological son he had helped raise him, he was his son blood or not. He held him for another minute, he then pulled away "why don't you come to the steak restaurant with us" he suggested "no thanks dad. Gaia is heading back to LA tonight and I'm gonna go with her. I just want to go home" he said. Greg nodded, he was disappointed but he understood "okay son, I'll stay until she comes" as he got up and sat next to him "you dont have too" Jay said "too bad cause I want too. Also have you met your mother?" he joked. Jay smiled a bit, Greg patted his shoulder.
That night Jay left the hotel and returned to L.A as Raquelle tried to cheer herself up with her friends. Both of them felt disheartened and upset about the events of the evening. They wouldn't ever admit it but both their hearts were slightly cracked and both thought the night could've led to something special.

One Month later
Jay and his band were working with Benny Blanco in his home studio, on their new album.
Jay twiddled his pencil between his finger and thumb, he and Max were trying to think of an idea for a song "how about you write about that girl that stood you up on Toronto in that hotel lobby?" Max asked "woah there's a story there. That's a good idea. What happened?" Benny asked. Jay shrugged and sighed "I went for a gold weekend with my step dad and family friends a month ago, in Toronto. I met this wonderful, beautiful girl. I took a chance, asked her if she wanted to join me for dinner that night. She seemed really up for it and excited. She had the most amazing smile, it lit up her whole face. I just thought I wanna see those eyes and smile for the rest of my life. She then didn't turn up to the date. I waited for two hours and nothing. It really hurt, I thought the evening would be so special and it would lead to something but it didn't. I don't know but I think it was love at first sight.... I can't stop thinking about her. She's just in my head, that smile, those eyes... I can't forget her" he said "damn man that's rough. I'm sorry" Benny said sympathetically putting his hand on his shoulder. "Max is write though, that's such a good idea. Why don't you write about how you can't stop thinking about her" Benny suggested. Jay smiled and nodded. He then wrote and recorded a song called she don't even know.
Benny and Max fist bumped whilst Jay was singing in the booth. "I love this song" Benny said. Max nodded and agreed.

That night.
Benny and Selena were eating dinner together, it was one of their date nights and they were telling each other about their day "so how was your day baby?" Selena asked "good. I'm working with this upcoming band Lawson. They're just awesome. Amazing musicians and songwriters. Like today for example Jay and Max were stuck on writing a song. Then Max was like why don't you write a song about that girl, who stood you up a month ago. Jay then told us this story about a girl who seemed really into him and he basically fell in love with her on the spot. She ended up standing him up and he now can't stop thinking about her. So he wrote this incredible song called She don't even know. " he said. Selena looked amazed "wow same thing happened to Raquelle about a month ago. She can't stop thinking about that guy" she said "didn't that happen in Toronto?" Benny asked "yeah why?" she asked "nothing, it also happened to Jay in Toronto...." he said. "I mean Toronto is a big place....right??" Selena said. Benny nodded "yeah...I mean can you imagine! If they were supposed to go on a date with one another" Benny said, he then went on his phone "what are you doing?" Selena asked "only one way to find out" he said as he called Jay. Benny put him on speaker. "Hiya mate. You alright?" Jay asked "yeah man, super quick one. I was just telling Selena about that new song we wrote today. She wanted to know, where in Toronto it was and when? Don't ask why " he asked laughing "uh the Forest view hotel and spa, it was like the weekend after Toronto Film Festival cause that's the only time we were all in the same place. Why?" Jay said. Selena mouthed to ask what she looked like "what did this girl look like" Benny asked "uh she was a petite, pretty blonde girl. She had the most amazing smile and eyes. Not to mention an incredible body. She was special. Well thanks for depressing me, I'll talk to you tomorrow" he said "yeah see you tomorrow man" he said and hung up.
Selena looked at Benny "we should set them up. Worst comes to worse it wasn't them and then they never have to know" Selena said. "how do we do that?" he asked "your with them tomorrow right?" Selena asked "yeah" he said. "How about, Raquelle and I drop something off that the house and we'll come and say hello" Selena said. Benny nodded "I love that idea" Benny smiled cunningly.
