I love these kinds of AU's so just go with it
"Keith grumbled as his alarm went off. Another wonder-fucking-ful day at school. He could HARDLY wait.
I'm kidding. School was Hell and he wanted to burn the place down until there's nothing left but black ashes that get swept away from the wind every morning.
He sat up and stretched. His black hair was stuck to his face and his eyes felt like they were glued together. He blindly moved his hair out of his face and yawned. He sat on his bed for a little while, trying to remember a dream he just had. Something about forests and dead people. He couldn't remember the details. After a few minutes, his eyes started opening and he was greeted by his orange cat staring at him.
"Hey, Red." He mumbled. He pet the cat on his head and threw the covers off himself. He looked at his wall and saw a piece of paper that said 'greet each new day with enthusiasm!' Keith always did that, so he proceeded to smile as best he can in the morning and yelled:
"I'M SUPER DEPRESSED!"
He got out of bed and almost fell over from the sudden movement. He did that every morning. He walked to his closet and started thinking about what to wear. It was almost summer and where he lived, it was already sweltering hot. He decided to go with a white tank top and pastel pink crop top and turquoise button up high waisted shorts. For accessories (because they're essential), he went with a red flower crown and pastel purple arm warmers. He brushed his hair and put it in a ponytail.
Not everybody at school approved of his clothing preference, but most didn't really care. And if they did, they had the decency to not say anything.
School wasn't the greatest, but he didn't get bullied that often. If you had to ask me, I'd say that even though he preferred more feminine looking clothes, he looked so good in them that most of the time all the bullies just assumed that he was a 'she'. That's not the case at all, though. Keith very much identified as a boy. He did all sorts of sports (he's the fittest in the entire school) and got a little miffed when people used 'she' 'her' pronouns when talking about him. He just happened to like more feminine clothes. It's not that big a deal, so Keith didn't understand why it was so hard for some people to grasp.
Keith made his way downstairs to find a note on the counter.
"Keith,
Had to go to work early today, but there are some pancakes in the microwave you can warm up.
-Shiro"
Shiro was Keith's older brother. When Shiro moved away, Keith felt so alone. His parents didn't want him. No, they couldn't except the fact that Keith liked wearing what he did.
"I'm still a boy, you know." Keith would tell them.
"But the clothes you wear say otherwise," They would always respond. Eventually, he moved in with Shiro just to get away from them. Shiro happily let Keith move in and felt better that he had some company. They've been living together for a year, now.
Keith walked over to the microwave and warmed up his pancakes. He glanced at the clock and tried to will time to slow down.
He quickly ate his pancake, grabbed his backpack, put on his sandals, and ran out the door to the bus stop. When he got there, he checked his backpack to make sure he had everything. That was a nasty habit of his. Running for the bus before checking his backpack. Can you blame him? Waking up that early in the morning would stress anyone out. When the bus arrived, Keith got on and made his way to the back seat. Not many people stared at him, but he could tell that someone was... he just couldn't figure out who. When the bus made its next stop, Keith noticed someone in three seats ahead of him look back and forth. He ran out of his seat and sat next to Keith. Keith stiffened. He didn't know who this guy was. Was he the one staring at him?
