Bonding moment

Before we begin I just wanted to inform those who did not know, this video was tagged with Klance and the song playing at the end is 'I can't fight this feeling anymore' so sorry guys, it's official. That's the Klance theme song. Anyway, this story takes place after the video, so I suggest you watch it. If not for this story, then for yourself. 

Keith stomped away from the room holding back tears. His throat felt tight and heavy from holding back a sob. 

He hadn't meant to get so emotional, really. That wasn't what he wanted. 

He stomped to his room and tried to steady his breathing. Unfair. All of this was unfair. 

Lance ran into his room, breathing heavily.

"Keith! I've been looking all over for you!" He panted. Keith wiped his eyes, hoping Lance wouldn't see the tears.

"You.. you were?" He asked, his voice soft and quiet. 

"I just saw your vlog... I wanted to make sure you were okay. So... are you?" Lance asked. He sat next to Keith, placing a hand on his shoulder. 

"I've been better," Keith admitted. Lance sighed. 

"Look, man. I'm sorry about your mom abandoning you. I couldn't even imagine..." Lance shook his head and put on a comforting smile. 
"But... you have all of us now. At this point, it's safe to say that we're all family and Keith? We all care about you so much. It's okay that you have walls, just don't let them trap you." Lance said. 

"I don't know, Lance..." Keith mumbled. 

"Keith? Can I please hug you? You need a hug right about now," Lance asked as he removed his hand from Keith's shoulder and spread them out wide. Keith hesitated before hugging him. Lance wrapped his arms around Keith tightly, not wanting to let go. He needed to be there for Keith. 

Keith let himself cry a little bit, not too loudly, though. He was already embarrassed enough. 

Wait, he thought to himself What am I embarrassed about?

His mind went to Lance, what they were doing at that moment, but that didn't make sense. There was no shame with hugging Lance and besides, Lance is his right-hand man. The second in command. His friend. 

Keith realized what he was embarrassed about were his feelings. He didn't like feeling sad or angry. Crying made him feel weak and vulnerable. He knows it's supposed to make you strong enough to let yourself cry, but he couldn't help but be ashamed. 

The worst part was that Lance was seeing it. 

Keith didn't let anybody see anything. Especially Lance. 

But... he had. And this wasn't the first time, too. 

He remembered the time he had held an injured Lance in his arms after they had a talk about how they were a good team. He genuinely felt upset the next morning when Lance didn't remember. 

Keith hugged Lance tighter. 

"Tell me you're going to remember this bonding moment?" Keith asked. Lance laughed and something in Keith's heart made him want to laugh, too. 

"Keith, I never forget our bonding moments. I just like to tease you is all," Lance explained.

"But, yes, I will not forget this bonding moment," Lance assured. 

Maybe... with a little time... Keith could start breaking those walls a little bit more for Lance. 

Maybe...
