Came up with this idea while watching the movie that got me on my road of obsession: The Croods.

Yep. I literally watched that movie every morning before my family woke up and then 1 time after that every day. I'm surprised my parents didn't put a stop to it.

Also, this is based on one scene in the movie.

Let me tell you a story of two boys, who hated and loved each other. And it all started with middle school.

These two boys, Keith and Lance, never really got along that well. Lance insisted they were rivals while Keith just went with it. While it's true they couldn't stand each other, whenever one of them were being bullied by someone, the other boy would step in and put a stop to it claiming 'nobody but me can pick on him'. It was a good system they had. It all seemed like good clean fun, teasing and picking on each other and yet protecting each other. Neither boy would admit it, but they liked each other to some extent.

Then high school. The dark abyss in which students want to die. Keith and Lance didn't know anybody but each other at that school, and yet they refused to be near each other. It was well known throughout the school of Lance and Keith's rivalry. Soon, Keith and Lance separated into their own group of friends and ignored each other. Whenever they would talk, the conversation would end in an argument.

Keith often found Lance aggravating and annoying. Almost as dislikeable then school. Almost, but not quite. Whenever he wanted to be alone, he ran into his favourite forest. It was relaxing and he liked doing his homework surrounded by nothing but nature. As cliche as it sounds, it was true. One day, he came across a cave. He went inside, interested in what he might find.

The cave was dark and water was dripping from the ceiling, but the further Keith walked, the nicer it got. The ground became mossy, the leaking stopped and red and blue flowers were showing up. When he reached the centre, Keith held his breath. There was a crystal blue pond with a waterfall, vines were growing all on the sides of the cave, red and blue flowers covered the ground and vines. Strange crystals were all over the place. They looked like Celestine.

What really caught Keith's attention was some rocks piled up like stairs. He took a few steps towards them before hesitating. Why he hesitated, he didn't know. Perhaps he was worried he would get lost, that it was too dark, that he might trip on the wet rock and crack his skull. All rational thoughts, but his curiosity got the better of him. He smiled and ran up the stairs.

It didn't get dark, he didn't get lost and he didn't crack his skull. When he reached the top, he saw the whole cave from up high behind some rocks. The floor was littered with red and blue flowers to the point where he was stepping on them all. Keith sat down and leant on one of the boulders. He could get used to this.

And so it went. Every day after school, he'd go in the cave. His cave.

One day, though, things were a little bit different.

While Keith was leaning on a boulder doing his homework, he heard footsteps. Now, Keith never told anybody about this place, so he didn't know what to think. He peeked from behind the boulder to see Lance running in. Why is he here? Keith thought to himself.
