The Prodigies

Nanatiling tahimik kaming lahat. Habang maingat kong tinitingnan ang mukha ng nakangising policewoman sa amin.

She's smirking. But...what for?

"Puro minor ang mgat ito, chief" sabi nung lalaking pulis

"I can see that, officer" the woman said at saka ibinaling ang tingin sa amin, ngayon ay nakakunot na ang kanyang noo, "What are you kids doing here? Bakit wala kayo sa school? Alam ba ito ng mga magulang niyo?" Sunod sunod na tanong niya sa amin.

Nagkatinginan na lamang kaming lahat as we realized na wala siyang alam tungkol sa totoong pagkatao namin.

Lumapit ang policeman  sa bar counter kung san nakaupo sina Malcolm at saka iniangat ang baso nitong may lamang alak

"Naku! At nag iinuman pa" he said. Napabuntong hininga ang babaeng police

"Talk to the management at tanungin mo sila bat sila nagserve ng liquor sa mga minor. Give them the right punishment after. As for you kids," tukoy niya sa amin, "Sasama kayo sa akin sa presinto. Call your parents or guardian to pick you up there"

We were given no time to resist. The next thing we knew we were riding on a police car papuntang presinto. At heto na nga, magkakasama kami sa isang room kung saan kami dinetain nung babae.

"Well, this is funny" basag ni Morgan sa katahimikan

"We should find a way to escape" suhestiyon ko

"There's only one door and it's locked from the outside. We cannot escape unless may isang pumasok rito sa loob. Pin him down and then we run" ani Malcolm

"So it's not true that all vampires are dead" Morgan

"The Hartford prodigy" ani Morgan at saka tumango tango naman si Clad

"The prodigies are alive" he said, "Sila na lamang ang natira and then there's Malcolm and me, and Elizabeth"

Napalingon ako kay Malcolm nang marinig ko ang kanyang ngisi. Na para bang may narinig siyang kaaya aya

"So she is alive" aniya, "Ah, those good old days with Victoria LeBlanche"

Agad nagsalubong ang aking kilay. What the heck are they talking about?

"Anong pinag uusapan niyo? And what prodigy?" I asked. Nilingon ako ni Clad

"The prodigies came from the three founding, or main families of our race; the LeBlanche, who are known for their offensive ablities. The Hartford, who specializes in intellectual ability. And the Cortrade, who are the masters of defense"

"Victoria LeBlanche, daughter of Simon and Veronica LeBlanche the head of the LeBlanche family, is the family's prodigy. She's very skilled in fighting. Walang makapantay sa kanyang galing. I heard she can even make herself invisible. She's deadly"

"Prodigies, huh? So they are the vampires we are running away from" siguradong di basta basta ang mga ito. How can we continue to run away from these guys who are powerful as fuck?

"I don't understand these 'families'" ani Eliz. And this time si Malcolm naman ang sumagot.

"The three main families are the founding families of the vampire race. Sila ang namumuno sa amin. They have branch families that served them"

"Us, Bloodworths came from the branch family of the Hartfords. Sa kanila kami nagsisilbi. However my ability is not related to the supposed type of ability the Hartford family has to have. Cause you know my ability is life and death. However, I still have to comply with that one absolute rule of the family, that we need to have a contact, eye or physical, so our ability could work."

"Mine's the same" ani Clad "I have to obey the rule to use my power. Pero mas nalalapit naman ang kapangyarihan ko sa ability ng Hartfords. Though, I'd like to think that our power is more advanced than a normal branch family member"

Di ko naman mapigilan ang di mapangisi dahil sa arrogance na narinig ko sa kanyang tono. This is the first time I heard him na nagyayabang.

"Sinasabi mo bang pumapantay o mas humihigit pa kayong dalawa sa mga prodigies?"

"It's not really hard to tell" ani naman ni Morgan, "Ang yayabang niyo!" Tawa niya

"I knew there's a reason why Stefan and his family didn't like us that much. And it's because we are threats to their power and the prodigies' power. The reason why he tried to kill us" Clad

"Or killed me" Malcolm

"He what?" Halos di makapaniwalang sabi ko

"Galit na galit ang mga Cortrade sa amin because of what we did to their leader. Ni hindi man lang nila binigyang pansin ang muntikang pagpatay ng kanilang pinuno sa dalawang musmos na bata. Mula noon, halos wala nang gustong lumapit pa sa amin except from Victoria, Olivia and Philipp. And then there's Ezekiel Cortrade, he likes to pick fights with us"

"Mautak si Philipp Hartford. He knew kung gaano kami kinatatakutan kaya ang ginawa niya ay kami ang inatasan niyang magbantay sa nag iisa niyang anak. No one ever dared to lay a finger on Olivia Hartford dahil palagi kaming  nasa tabi niya"

"That's...sad" komento ni Eliz. Hindi naman nakatakas sa akin ang pagtingin niya kay Morgan. I wonder what happened between them. I wonder what she has in mind right now. However, I agree to what Elizabeth had said. The Bloodworth brothers' childhood is indeed sad. Pero nasan naman kaya ang kanilang mga magulang? Imposibleng iniwan lamang sila ng mga ito. Ngunit bago ko pa man maisatinig ang aking katanungan ay may bigla namang pumasok sa silid na aming kinaroroonan.
