Chapter 14: The Succubus

Beat was checking the wallet of the girl and saw her name and that she was of the church but also a photo with a boy with black short hair, a scar in his neck, black eyes, and had a crux tatooed in his hand,  and another girl that had long black hair, green eyes, and with white skin. Beat didn't know what was happening, but he started making theories with what he knew of this case. Knowing that the church wanted to close it quick, it could be that the girl had powers or that she was having a relationship with the other girl. Or that the boy was connected with the church and loved the other girl and when this girl tried to do something against the other girl he killed the girl. Still the fact of the green eyes of the other girl made him think.

Usually humans don't have green eyes, and it's impossible to be a monster and believe in god or that humanity is the best. But then he remembered something about an specific race of the demon race. The succubus. Green eyes, sexy usually, very nice until you take their food away. They can live as humans but have less life expectancy than humans and are less smart. But if they manage to grab life essence of humans, by any mean like holding hands, kissing or making love, they are extremely strong, smart and have a long live. Of course that depends on the life essence they grab, but then they'll be all life grabbing life essence.
-Beat: "What if the girl with green eyes is a... Succubus? If that's so... Crap. Here we will have found something so embarrasing for the church to admit. All fits but also all could fit in the other theories..."
Erina after talking with the parents and learning which church the girl that was killed went decided to talk with Beat.
-Erina: Beat, the girl's name is Jessamine. She usually went to Saint Flinch church to pray for the lives of everyone in her family.
-Beat: Thanks... Erina. This will get messy if I'm right. And I hate to say it but it's true: I'm only wrong few times or when we talk of knowing what a girl is thinking.
-Erina: Why you say that?
-Beat: I fear that there might be a Succubus in the church.

Erina knew what it meant. If that was true, they had a trouble. If they find the succubus and capture it... the church won't be happy and will start hunting all of its members to find monsters. A disaster for the city.
-Erina: Then what we do?
-Beat: We have three ways to act: First, don't care a shit about the city and find the culprit and send this city to hell. Second, we forget of the case and close it. Third, since succubus don't kill people and makes other people do the dirty job, capture her and keep her secret safe and kill the one that killed the girl. Saying that the succubus only helped the culprit will be enough. Of course the third one would mean saving a monster that killed.
-Erina: You know what I think of people using other people. I won't accept the third way of doing. But also letting this case closed without no culprit would be... a torture for the family. We have to discover the truth, capture the culprit and letting the family cry for their lost member.
-Beat: Even I think that third way would be good but... it'll be a drag of office work. And saving people that kills others only by fear of death it's not my way. I hope that your way is different than way number one.
-Erina: I'm glad to agree with you in this case.
-Beat: (Smirks) Well, that's a start for a good relationship, no?
-Erina: What are you thinking in, boss!?
-Beat: Nothing. Nothing at all. Unless the bets of you becoming my girlfriend.
-Erina: Shut up, boss. Not interested in that type of relationship.
-Beat: Not even a little?
Erina starts blushing a little.
-Erina: You are better than the other guys... but...
Erina imagines what would be a life with Beat and ends scared.
-Erina: No. It would be worse. Yeah... truly bad.
-Beat: (laughs) This happens to me for trying to be funny and doing some jokes about you!
-Erina: Don't play with emotions like that!
-Beat: (laughs) Why you say that? It's not like you love me!
-Erina: No but you scare me!
-Beat: A little less of stress is good for your health. Also if we want to grab a Succubus in the church is better to be without stress! Also... How will Vinnie grab this girl that has died? Someone did a awful job at making dices from her...

A black van arrives to the area and Vinnie with a pair of plastic gloves gets out of it, to grab the corpse but when he sees the state of the corpse he looks pale.
-Vinnie: For the mother of all hacking... Who the hell was too funny to make a diced corpse!? I start hating these psychos that make my job of getting the corpses a lot harder... Beat! If you find the culprit, fill him with bullets! A lot of them. I want to make an example with that psycho!
-Beat: He took it well... Strange!
-Erina: That's taking it well!? Crap... I'm getting scared again.
Vinnie tries to grab a part of the corpse but it slips the glove and falls to the ground. It wasn't blood what made it slip, it was something else. An strange substance. Vinnie grabs a lighter and he's about to burn the body.
-Vinnie: This corpse is useless. Better burning it!
-Erina: NOOO!
Erina tackles Vinnie and punches him.
-Erina: That I have to do this is already getting me stressed! Don't dare to burn the corpse! Maybe the substance is something that the culprit used! I don't know but maybe the culprit used something to make the flesh easier to cut!
-Vinnie: And how I can grab this corpse!?
-Erina: With gloves it would be hard indeed...
-Beat: I know: Tweezers.
-Vinnie: Really? It'll work?
-Beat: It's like grabbing fried chicken. Only that you won't eat it.
-Erina: Beat... You'll make me feel bad... I recently had breakfast!
-Beat: My fault. Sorry. But we go to Saint Flinch now, no?
-Erina: Aye aye sir... See you later Vinnie.
-Vinnie: Yeah. See you later.
-Beat: Bye!
Beat and Erina get in Beat's car and start driving to Saint Flinch.
