Chapter 31: The Blood Rose II

Beat and Erina went to the leisure district, where the corpse of the girl was. Vinnie was already there talking with the police The corpse was in the middle of the street there was the corpse and the worst is that a kid called the police to warn about that corpse. A little boy. When Erina and Beat saw the kid, Erina went directly to a candy store to buy sweets for the kid. Beat sighed but smiled.
-Beat: “If she wasn't like this, you wouldn't have fallen for her Beat. She's way too nice, smart, strong... And that God spares me if I say that I don't like stubborn girls!"
Beat went to the corpse and started examining it. Lots of fang marks that indicated that many vampires bit her. But that didn't say nothing and had no explanation. How could a girl be attacked by so many vampires and not screaming? That was what Beat was thinking when he saw the black ball thrown in the ground. Then all came together and sound.
-Beat: “So this girl walks after working in a pub or bar. Then a vampire drops a sleep bomb and knocks her out. Calls his friends and they all feast on this poor girl. Well, it may be easy this case. Check the DNA of the saliva of all the biting marks and we find all the vampires, capturing them or killing them and go home! And for a better case closing, check when the girl died and go to check some pubs at those hours. If this area is a hunting area for some vampires, I'm just going to have fun catching them all." Vinnie! Can you check if we can grab DNA samples of all the bite marks? Also give me the hour of death of this girl! This case seems a piece of cake case!
-Vinnie: On it! In 2-4 hours I'll have the DNA of those vampires.
-Beat: Also just in case that DNA fails us, take the fingerprints on her arms, body, etc.
-Vinnie: Okay. Seems easy!

Vinnie starts working with the corpse and Beat goes to talk with the kid, but a cop stops him.
-Cop: Mr Graves, we talk with the kid. He is a vampire and we are taking him into custody in case that he or his family were involved in the attack.
-Beat: First, You are interfering in my job. Second, that kid hasn't done anything. Why would he call the police and let the option that maybe a monster hunter comes and finds him? So out of my way. I only warn twice, third time is a shot in your ass.
The cop can't even talk back and gets away from Beat. Beat looks how a tall detective with brown eyes and hair, wearing a white shirt, black trousers and black boots interrogates the kid and even hits the kid's head. But then sees Erina with a bag of sweets and he knew what he had to do. He goes closer to the detective, grabs his shoulder, the detective stares at him and then Beat hits the detective with a headbut and the detective falls to the ground.
-Beat: You did three things wrong. First, interfering with my job. Second, hitting the kid. Third, staring at me. Get your ass out of my case right now, bastard. I will warn you once, second time is a shot in your feet. Got it!?
-Detective: You can't do this! I'm in the police! I can detain you!
-Beat: You are talking to a monster hunter. Do what you have to do to fulfill your case. That's one thing we can do. And you are interfering. So get out.
-Detective: Oh, a monster hunter! You freak. Like that girl over there, she's a freak like you!
-Vinnie: (While working on the corpse) You are into big trouble right now. If I could I would shoot you. But Beat? He's going to mess you up, man.

Beat grabs the man and goes to an alley. Erina tries to follow him but stays away when she looks Beat eyes. They were filled with a bloodlust that scared her.
-Beat: You can insult me all what you want. But insulting Erina? That's a no go. (Takes his gun out and aims to the head of the detective) What do you want to be put in your grave? A bastard that got in the way or A racist idiot that deserves to sleep with the fishes? Because unless you beg for your life, you are dead.
-Detective: What? You are going to kill me!? You will break the law!
-Beat: I can. I'll only have to fill a report of what happened. And you interfered so much. Bad idea staying in my way, bastard. Bad idea. Many people know that I'm an overprotective bastard with my companions. And that girl is my companion. So trying to insult her is like asking me to kill you.
-Detective: Suck your ego, bastard! I'll send you to jail. And that companion too. But she'll be with the worst scum.
-Beat: Die.
Beat shot the detective and killed him. He walked away while Erina looked at Beat afraid.
-Erina: Why?
-Beat: He was going too far in the interrogation, interfered too much and insulted you. (Sighs) You are way too important for me to let that slip. If you want to hate me, go on. I don't care. I'll just won't allow that someone goes that far and neither that someone insults you.
-Erina: He was hitting the boy?
-Beat: Yeah. Racism is a big mess that we humans created. Everyone bleeds with the same red blood when you kill them. Or maybe some don't. But most bleed exactly the same red blood. Then why to discriminate like that? That's a drag.

The boy went to talk with Beat, he looked surprised. But then smiled.
-Boy: You are Beat Graves! The Red Hound of Drake street! The companion of “Blood" Rose!
Beat turned pale when he heard that and looked to the boy.
-Beat: How much you know?
-Boy: A lot! I'm a fan of your work!
-Beat: You should not know about Drake street, kid. You shouldn't. It was a big mess.

Beat seems to have a bad past! But what happened in Drake street? Who knows!
