Chapter 32: Drake Street

Beat's POV:
Drake street, huh? That happened with my first companion. Rose. I could never forgive that bastard of Francis for sending us to sure death. Luckily my power saved me, but Rose was a human without powers. Just like Erina.
The past always comes to haunt, isn't?
I failed her. I damn failed her! That's something I cannot forgive.
When Francis dies and is buried I'll take his body out and throw it to the sea. Let's see if he likes to sleep with the fish!
Beat POV finished

Beat looked pale but recovered a little. Erina was worried but they had to ask the kid.
-Erina: Let's talk about other things. What you saw?
-Kid: Some vampires were talking of how good the human blood was... How strong they were and then other vampire with a cloak of the Dareen Clan talked with them and prepared the attack.
-Beat: Dareen Clan? Really? Maybe it was Darabian Clan. Their cloaks are similar.
-Kid: Yeah, but I'm from Darabian Clan and I know well how our cloaks look like it was similar but not the same.
-Beat: Dareen Clan is in this too... This time too...
-Erina: Can you explain what happened with that clan? And also I know that every vampire has a clan but in class no one explained what was different in any clan.
-Beat: Dareen Clan was the one that lead Rose to her death. They work usually for the government and they believe that they need human blood so they work for the government to change the rules. Darabian Clan is more pacifist and accept the rules and only drink human blood when they can. They are usually accepted in any job thanks to their way to think.
-Erina: I'm sorry, if I knew.
-Beat: No problem. I can make an idea of what happened. Boy, go to the man that is taking DNA and tell him all what you told us. Erina, go with him and then stay in the safe place of White Hope. You won't work in this case and until I finish it, you won't get out of that place.
-Erina: Why!?
-Beat: Because Dareen Clan works for that bastard of Francis! If he gives the order, they'll force you, torture you and who knows what more to make sure that you follow Francis orders! If a vampire of Dareen Clan is involved in this, I would really bet my left hand that this is a trap for you! So please, go to the safe place. I beg you.
-Erina: (Sighs) If you find that Francis is involved in this, capture him. Don't kill him.
-Beat: That depends on what he has planned.
-Erina: Boy, shall we go?
-Boy: Okay, Ms Graves!
-Erina: (blush) Miss!? Graves!?
-Beat: We are not that close.... “Yet."
-Boy: Then why you look at her with those eyes? The typical eyes of someone loving who he is watching.
Beat blushes
-Beat: This boy... He surely is young...
-Boy: I'm 33. We live around 200 years.
-Beat: See?
-Erina: Not so young. Not at all. (Smiles) But well, I'll leave you with your feelings Beat.
Erina and the boy go to where Vinnie and the corpse are.

Beat POV:
That damn kid! Thanks for letting her know my feelings already! Agggghh! This is way too bad! This is wrong! ON SO MANY LEVELS! I'm her companion, also I taught her a lot of this job. No,no,no! This won't end well!
Still, how I could not fall in love with that lovely bun? That's a fact, she's totally my type...
Well let's not freak out! First the case, later your feelings!

How I shall deal with this case? I go to ask Dareen Clan? Yeah, it should be the best step. Also if it is a trap, when they learn that their target won't come, they'll want to kill me. And then I only have to force them to confess and find out if Francis is involved.
But if he is involved Francis will have prepared something more. That's a fact. So as long as Erina stays on the safe place, he will go after the only guy alongside Sylvia that knows how to open the safe place. He won't risk to start another war attacking Sylvia. So he will go after me with that something he has prepared.
Let's hope that nothing happens.
Beat POV end.
Beat gets into his car and starts going to the administrative district.

Meanwhile, Erina and the boy go with Vinnie to White Hope and both of them have to follow Sylvia to the fifth floor, but it is locked with a code. Sylvia puts the code and the entire floor was like if it was a house but it had turrets and barricades in case of an attack.
-Sylvia: If Beat told you to stay here is because he thinks that this case is a trap for you.
-Erina: And he protects me way too much.
-Sylvia: If you die, he's going to go berserk. Last time, Delaware ended blind and needed new eyes. This time, it'll be even worse.
-Erina: So better I stay safe, no? I can handle myself!
-Sylvia: That's what Rose said. And look how she ended.
-Erina: She was his first companion, no?
-Sylvia: For him, she was more important than his life. They were close friends. When she died, Beat raided the government office and killed everyone unless Francis, Delaware and Bell. And they survived because Bell was holding a baby in his arms. Delaware ended blind but got a new pair of eyes and Francis can't fight anymore because Beat shot to a nerve in his left arm and can't move it a lot.
-Erina: And he feels something more for someone else?
-Sylvia: If that were so, I wouldn't do bets on when he'll marry someone. Stay safe.
-Erina: That's easy job.
-Sylvia: I know.
Sylvia leaves the floor.
