"Are you about ready for bed Care?" Mike asked softly, coming into the living room to where his wife was sitting. She was intently reading on her computer.
"I'll be up in a few." She mumbled, not taking her eyes off the screen. Ever since her doctor told her she would need a c-section due to her son being in the breached position, Carrie had been researching constantly so that she'd know everything there was to know. Although she'd read everything more than once now, she wanted to get anything else she could get in last minute before they went to the hospital tomorrow morning.
"Care honey you've read everything there is to read, quit worrying yourself even more." Mike came over and gently took her laptop out of her hands and shut it. He sat it on the table and offered her his hand. "You need to get some sleep."
"I just want to be prepared." She muttered as she walked towards the stairs. She put her hands on her nine month pregnant stomach and sighed as she waddled up the stairs.
"You're as prepared as you can be Carrie. Everything is going to go fine. Whatever happens happens, reading every article on the internet fifty times isn't going to change anything." Mike stopped her at the top of the stairs and placed his hands on her stomach. "We're going to be fine."
After getting ready, Carrie fell into bed and situated herself with her body pillow.
"I'm so nervous Mike." Carrie mumbled once he crawled in beside her. He laid on his side to face her and caressed her forehead softly.
"I know baby, me too." He squeezed her hand and gave her a reassuring look. "But it's going to be okay, I have faith."
"This is the last night it'll just be the two of us ever again. This is crazy. We're going to be parents tomorrow, we're never going to be just us again for the rest of our lives." Carrie explained. She messed with the wedding band on her husbands finger.
"I know, I can't believe it." Mike said in shock.
"I'm not going to be able to sleep tonight at all." Carrie giggled softly.
"I know I know, but we need to try. We're going to need it." Mike leaned over and turned the light off and then rolled back over to face his wife.
"Goodnight princess, I love you so much." He kissed her forehead softly and then her lips.
"And goodnight sweet boy, I'll see you very soon." He smiled against her stomach and kissed it slowly.
"I love you." Carrie smiled, laying her hand on top of his and shutting her eyes.
Much to Carrie's surprise, she fell asleep rather quickly. She and Mike both tossed and turned a lot during the night and were abruptly woken up by the alarm early the next morning.
"Come on princess, wake up." Mike lightly shook her awake.
"Noooo" Carrie moaned, covering her face with her pillow. It was 5:30 in the morning and she was dreading the coming events more than anything.
"I don't want to go Mike, I'm not ready." She looked into his eyes with eyes full of fear. Tears welled up in them.
"Please don't cry Carrie, it's going to be okay I promise." Mike sat on the edge of their bed and wrapped her up into his embrace.
