"Can you believe we're going to live here soon?"
"It's incredible." Mike held her hand as they wandered through the large empty house. He pulled Carrie's arm, turning her around and bringing her up against his body. He smiled widely. "I cannot wait to build a life with you here."
The couple had finally finished building their dream home after four years. They'd signed and officiated everything that morning, so it was officially theirs. The moving trucks were coming in two days to start the move in process.
A smile slid from ear to ear across Carrie's face. She cupped his cheeks and kissed him passionately.
Mike tightened his grip around her, his hand snaking down to her butt.
"Mm, let's have our picnic first." Carrie mumbled as she continued to kiss him. She pulled away, stopping herself from getting carried away. "We have all night."
"Right." Mike kissed her once more, then pulled away. "Let's eat."
Carrie spread the blankets out across the living room floor as Mike pulled things out of the picnic basket. They'd closed on the house this morning, and planned to break in the new house tonight. It was still completely empty.
"Wow, this looks delicious." Carrie said in awe of the picnic they'd packed with fruit, vegetables, sandwiches, pasta salad, and chocolate. Mike picked up a bottle of wine and began to pour a glass.
"Mm, I guess that's my signal." Carrie chuckled nervously.
"What?" Mike raises his eyebrow, not having a clue what she meant.
"I uh, I went to the doctor a few days ago." Carrie hesitated. A smile slid across her face as she looked at her husband. She could see the realization hitting him before she spoke. "I'm 3 weeks pregnant."
Mike's eyes went wide as he processed what she was saying.
"Oh my gosh." Mike gasped. "Are you serious?"
Carrie nodded, her smile from ear to ear. "I wanted to tell you here. Our first memory in our forever home."
"I love you so much." Mike slid over to her and wrapped her in a hug. "I can't believe this."
They both couldn't stop smiling. Their happy day had just become ten times happier.
"Cheers." Mike raised his water glass instead. He sat the bottle of wine down over in the corner. "To the rest of our lives."
"To our new home, our new adventure, and our new addition." Carrie smiled widely, tears in her eyes. "I can't wait to spend the rest of my life in this house with you."
"Wow, I can't believe you're really pregnant." Mike took a bite of his sandwich, unable to stop looking at his wife. She already had a beautiful pregnancy glow. "How'd you know?"
"I threw up out of nowhere about a week ago, which made me realize that my period was late. I didn't want to have a false positive like Rachel did, so I just waited and went to the doctor."
"I can't believe you kept it from me for so long!"
"Well I didn't want to tell you until I was positive, and then when I found out Monday morning, I thought it would be more special to tell you here." Carrie grinned.
"Does anyone else know yet?"
"Mmmm, I may have possibly told Ivey." Carrie giggled, biting her lip. "Sorry."
"I figured." Mike chuckled. "It's okay."
"This is delicious. I'm starving. Eating for two hit me fast."
"Oh boy." Mike rolled his eyes and laughed. "It's going to be a long nine months isn't it?"
"Yeah probably." Carrie smiled. "But so worth it."
Carrie and Mike continued to laugh and chat as they finished their dinner. They talked about their future, about their plans with the house and the new baby, and about their new adventure.
"Are you finished?" Mike asked, beginning to pack up the food.
"Yep. I'm so stuffed I can hardly move." Carrie said, leaning back on her hands.
"Hopefully not too stuffed to break in the new house." Mike raised his eyebrow, sliding over to her.
Carrie giggled, her arm snaking around his neck and pulling him closer. She laid down against the ground, Mike hovering over her.
"Of course not." Carrie smirked. She kissed him hard. "We have way too much to celebrate tonight."
"God, I love you so much." Mike whispered against her lips as he slid her shirt over her head. He unhooked her bra and threw it to the side as he began to kiss down her chest.
He stopped, his lips lingering on her flat stomach.
"Hi little one." He whispered, placing his hand on her belly. "I love you."
Carrie smiled as Mike rose back to her level and kissed her again. She laughed, placing her hands on his chest to stop him from continuing.
"Is it bad that we're talking to our baby and having sex at the same time?"
Mike frowned. "I mean, I guess I can stop if you think we shouldn't."
"No, no. It's okay." Carrie chuckled, her hands wrapping back around his neck. "We can continue."
"I thought so." Mike smirked, his lips colliding with hers. His hand slid into her shorts, causing a loud moan to escape Carrie's mouth between kisses.
After both teaching their highs, the couple laid breathless on the floor. Carrie's head rested against Mike's bare chest, her leg draped over his. She drew circles on his chest as he rubbed her back.
"I don't know what I did to deserve you." Carrie said softly, a smile on her face.
"You." Mike kissed the top of Carrie's forehead. "Are the best thing that's ever happened to me."
Carrie snuggled closer to her husband, her body molding against his. She pulled the blanket up higher over their bare skin, a chill running through the air.
She closed her eyes, listening to the sound of Mike's heartbeat.
She wanted to freeze the moment so that it would never end. Everything was perfect. Everything was exactly how it was supposed to be.
The first of many years of memories to come in their new house. Their forever home.
