"Carrie have you seen my-"

"Hey, are you okay?" Mike entered the bedroom where Carrie was sitting up in bed against the headboard taking deep breaths.

"Yeah, he's just kicking a lot." Carrie sighed, rubbing her eight month pregnant stomach.

"Does it hurt?" Mike flopped down on the bed beside her and propped himself up on his elbow.

Carrie nodded her head. She flinched as he kicked again. "He's kicking really hard."

Mike raised her shirt up over her belly and began to rub it gently.

"Hey there bud, it's your dad here. Are you getting restless in there? Ready to come out? We're ready for you to come out soon too. But you gotta stop moving around so much, you're hurting mommy and we don't want to hurt mommy do we?" Mike spoke softly, his face a few inches away from her stomach.

Carrie's heart fluttered at the sight of her husband and unborn son. The kicking in her belly was starting to subside as he spoke.

"I think it's working. He likes your voice, keep talking." Carrie said, leaning back against the headboard with her eyes closed.

"What do I say?" Mike laughed, still rubbing her belly.

"Anything." Carrie giggled. "Just keep talking so he'll quit."

Mike thought for a minute on what to say.

"Once upon a time, there was a princess." Mike smiled, speaking in a soft soothing baby voice. "Her name was Carrie. Carrie was the most beautiful girl in all the land and everyone in the village loved her. She had a beautiful voice and was always singing."

Carrie blushed, laughing at her husband's silly story.

"One day, Carrie's best friend forced her to meet a boy that lived a few villages away from them while he was visiting. Carrie didn't want to meet the boy, but her friend dragged her to meet him. She immediately fell in love with the handsome villager, much to her parents dismay. Soon, he had to leave town and go back to his own village. The young couple were so in love that they kept their relationship by talking on the phone night. They rarely got to see each other, but when they did, they made it special. A year later, they decided to get married and finally the boy moved to Carrie's village so that he could be with her all the time. They had a beautiful wedding and a few years later welcomed a beautiful little boy. Everyone in the village envied them and their wonderful life and in the end they lived happily ever after. The end."

"Cute." Carrie laughed sarcastically. "I think it worked, he's not kicking anymore."

"Good." Mike kissed her stomach and pulled her shirt back down. He smiled, patting her stomach. "Gotta keep the little guy happy."

"Thank you, ah that feels good." Carrie ran her hands through her hair and sat up. "It almost felt like little knifes were stabbing me."

"I'm sorry, I can't imagine." He kissed her forehead. "Just a little longer and it'll be worth it."

"I know." Carrie grinned, kissing him softly. "I love you."

Mike smirked. "I love you too, Princess Carrie."
