Divergent;an alternate ending

Chapter 4

"Does everybody have everything packed?" Eric's cold voice says.

We all nod.

"Alright. I will tell you all your room numbers." Eric says, then begins. "Tris, room 4G. Uriah, 4L. Lynn, 3R. Marlene, 3B. Peter, 2J. Will, 3D. Christina, 3H." After Christina, I stop listening. I'm so excited to be finally Dauntless.

"Alright, once you get your keys you can head to your apartment. I assume we all know the apartment building?" we all nod. "Come get your keys and head to your apartments." Eric says. With that he leaves.

I look for the key that has 4G on it and pick it up. It feels so weird to have my own key. It feels like i have all the power. I can get used to this.

Christina squeals in my ear. "Yay! Wait, were like 1 floor apart! Ugh."

"It's fine." I say and give her a hug.

"Hey, you stealing my girlfriend?" Will says.

"Yeah, what are you gonna do about it?" I say smirking.

"Did Tris just make a joke?" Christina says with mock confusion. "She must really be Dauntless."

We all laugh. It's fun to make jokes and just live freely. I like it a lot. We walk out the door with our boxes in both hands and head to the apartment building.

I open the door to my new apartment. It smells new. I set my box down and look around, absorbing the room. To my right, there's a kitchen that has a stove, oven, dishwasher, counter tops, cabinets, a sink, and a microwave. A little past the kitchen is a doorway leading into the bedroom with a queen size bed in it. The bed has black sheets and a black quilt on top with four pillows on it. Across from the bedroom doorway is a bathroom. I go into the bathroom, and it has a sink with a counter, a cabinet-mirror,a toilet, and a shower. There's a nightstand next to my bed with a lamp and a clock on it. There's a dresser across from the kitchen with a big mirror hanging above it, and many drawers to put all my clothes in, even though I don't have many. The walls and ceiling are black, and so is the floor. All the furniture is a dark brown and nicely polished. There's a couch on the wall between my bedroom and my bathroom, with a T.V. in the middle of the room. This apartment seems huge. I think I'm gonna like it here.

I start to unpack and someone knocks on my door. Who could already be bugging me?

I open the door and see Tobias standing in the doorway.

"Hey Tris."

"Hey"

"Nice room." He says walking in.

"Thanks. I like it a lot."

I have been too busy to notice he has his hands behind his back.

"Watcha got there?" I say.

"Just some Dauntless cake. I figured since we didn't get to be together last night, we can have our own little celebration."

"Sounds good."

We both sit down at the table.

"So what's up?" He starts.

"Nothing much. I have to unpack, though there's not really much to unpack."

"Ahh. well, after that what do you want to do?"

"I don't know, but I am kind of in the mood to stay home for a little bit a rest. It's been a rough couple of weeks."

"Sure. Listen, Zeke and Uriah are having a party tonight, and I wanted to see if you wanted to go." He says. "You don't have to if you're too tired."

"Nah, I'll go. It'll be fun."

After a half hour of eating cake and discussing nonsense, he says,"Do you need any help with unpacking?"

"No, I think I'll be alright. If you want to stay, I won't take long. You can watch TV or something."

"You sure I'm not bombarding, Tris?"

"Of course not! I actually would like having someone around. This place is so big, I can't believe I have it all to myself."

"Yeah," he says, "usually the Dauntless with higher rankings get the better rooms."

"Yeah. Mine is pretty much like your's." I say.

I start to unpack. I let Tobias sit on the couch and watch TV. I fold and put away my pants, shirts, underwear, and shoes, then head to the bathroom to put away some make up.

Once I'm done, I sit down on the couch next to Tobias, and lean my head on his shoulder. He throws his arm around me and pulls me tighter. I watch TV for a little while and eventually fall asleep.

Tobias POV

After Tris and I had our cake, she went to go unpack her things. I sat on the couch and watched TV.

After about 20 minutes, Tris comes to the couch and plops down next to me. She rests her head on my shoulder, and I wrap my arm around her and pull her in closer. I feel her breaths on my arm start to become even and she falls asleep.

I decide to keep her there for about ten minutes, then shut the TV, and lift her up. I move my right arm under her knees and my left arm inches slowly down towards her back, careful not to wake her up. I stand up with Tris in my arms and go into her bedroom.

I set Tris down on the bed and pull up the covers. I kiss her softly on her forehead and say "Goodnight, beautiful." and close the lights. I grab a notepad and write a letter, just in case she wakes up.

Tris,

Just in case you wake up earlier than I was going to wake you. I'll be back around 5 with dinner, if you want. Then we have to go to Zeke and Uriah's around 7:00, so I thought that would give you enough time to get ready. P.s, I took your key.

After that, I leave Tris's room and head for Zeke's.
