chapter 5

Tobias POV

I walk down the hallway to Zeke's room. I knock and he opens.

"Sup Four." he says.

"Hey Zeke. Wanna hang out a little? I wanna tell you something."

"Sure"

I walk in and sit down on his couch.

"So what's on your mind buddy?" Zeke says.

"Well, you know Tris right?" Zeke nods. "Well, her and I have kinda been seeing each other. We've hung out a little, and I just wanted to let you know. I couldn't keep a secret from my best friend." Crap. I sound like an idiot.

"Dude," he says, "I already knew."

I get suspicious. "What do you mean?"

"Four, you've been eyeing her since she dropped down on that net. If anyone knows you best Four it's gotta be me. You try to hide it, but I can see through those abs you've got a mushy heart." Zeke says poking my chest.

"Oh shut up." I say, punching him in the arm playfully. 

"So, do you want a pre-party beer?" He says.

"Nah. I'm gonna go eat something." I say, checking my watch that it's 4:45. "And don't tell people about this, I don't think Tris is ready to broadcast it all over Dauntless." I say.

"Okay, see you later, lover boy." Zeke call out behind me. I shoot him the death glare and he backs up into his apartment.

I walk down to the cafeteria, grab a to-go box, and fill it with a hamburger, french fries, and a piece of cake for Tris. I grab another and fill it with the same thing. I grab 2 water bottles and head to Tris's room.

 I head to Tris's room and when I get there, open the door. I don't hear anything going on, so I walk into Tris's room. She lays sound asleep in the bed.

I walk over to the side of the bed and kneel down.

I kiss her nose lightly and her eyes flutter.

"Wake up sleeping beauty." I say.

"Ha ha." she says rubbing her eyes.

She sits up, blinking a few times to get used to the light I turned on. I head back over to her side and sit on the bed.

"How'd you sleep?" I ask.

"Good."

"Listen, I got you dinner if you want, and we're gonna go to Zeke and Uriah's around 7:00. I decided to tell him about us. That okay?" I ask

"Yeah," she says. "I think I'm gonna go shower."

"Okay." I say, and watch her small little frame leave the room.

Tris POV

I still manage to turn on the shower correctly with sleep still in my eyes. I step into the shower letting the warm water run down my body and wake myself up.

Once I'm done with the shower, I dry my hair a little with a towel, wrap the towel around me and step outside.

Tobias is still here, but I change in my bedroom. I put on sweats and a tank top for now while we eat.

Tobias warmed up dinner for me and him and set up water bottles.

"Bon appetit" He says.

"Thanks." I say sitting down.

"Is something wrong?" He says.

I shake my head.

"Tris," He says.

"I don't know. I just don't know what is going on between us. We kiss, then you get swept away by a crowd, and I don't know how to tell people about us and I don't know if I liked keeping this a secret better and I-" he cuts me off.

"Listen to me" he says, taking my face in his hands. "I really really like you. I'm not afraid to scream it to the world that I love Tris Prior. Whatever you want to do about telling people or not is fine with me. I'm willing to take it slow with you, because I care about you."

He leans in and brushes his lips to mine before he kisses them. He holds my face in his hands and never lets go. I feel safe. My eyes still closed, savoring every moment of him. When he kisses me, I feel awake. And my eyes still closed, I wonder why we always close our eyes when we dream, and kiss. And then I realize that the most beautiful things in life are not seen or heard, but felt in your heart. And right now, I feel love and safety and bravery and selflessness in my heart, and I never want to let it go.

When he releases me, I open my eyes. The burning feeling of love still glowing in my heart.

"So, how about those hamburgers." I say.

"Of course" he says. He hands me a to go box and I open it.

"I'm sorry it's not as romantic as going to a restauraunt but it's the best Dauntless has." He says.

"It's perfect." I say.

We sit down across from eachother eating and talking. It's already 6:00, and I have to get ready.

Tobias leaves to get ready himself, and I go into my room to pick an outfit. The only dresses I have are 2 that Christina forced me to get. The one I decided to wear is a tight black pencil dress that curves with my body, goes to about mid thigh, has tiny short sleeves, and dips down low enough to see my ravens, but not too low. I do my hair before my make up. I blow dry the parts that aren't dry already. Once that's done, I simply put on mascara, eyeliner, and a little lip gloss. I then throw on a silver bracelet and black strappy high heels. I'm all ready by the time Tobias comes, which is 6:50.

He knocks on the door, and I stride towards it, still learning how to walk in high heels. When I open it, I see Tobias wearing black dress pants, a dark blue dollared shirt, and a sexy smile. He looks at me and says "Wow, um Tris, you look great."

"Same to you." I say smiling back.

We walk down the hall, Tobias holding my hips to steady me a little, and when we get to Zeke's door, he grabs my hand.

"Ready?" He says.

"Ready." I say. Then Tobias knocks on the door.
