Divergent;an alternate ending

Chapter 31

DIVERGENT WAS AMAZING!!! But, I am disappointed that they didn't butterknife edward, and Tris was supposed to be unconcious after Peter and Al and Drew kidnapped her. Other than that I NEED TO HAVE THEO'S BABIES. HE'S FREAKING GORGEOUS.

I wake up to the smell of cookies from the kitchen. I get up and walk there, finding Tobias shirtless making cookies. I wrap my arms around his waist and he grabs my hands.

"Morning gorgeous," He says. I smile.

"Morning handsome," I say. He turns around and holds me in his arms.

Ruining our moment, we hear a knock on the door. I sigh.

"I'll get it." Tobias says. He heads towards the door. I don't hear talking. He returns to the kitchen with a small blue package in his hands.

"Beatrice Prior," He says, as I look at the package.

"Was anyone there?" I ask, turning the package in my hands.

"No, it was just on the floor," He says. I lift the lid and find a note. I unfold it and read the writing out loud.

"Beatrice Prior," I start. "This letter is a warning. If you don't turn yourself to Erudite headquarters, you and your loved ones will be hurt. Watch out," It has no signature, so I don't know who it's from.

"that's creepy," Tobias says. I nod, still staring at the paper.

"Oh no, Tris you are certainly NOT going there," Tobias says. Tears gather in my eyes.

"If I don't, you and my family, and my friends will get hurt, I have no choice," I say. I collapse into his arms, sobbing. He shhs in my ear and caresses my hair.

"Promise me you won't go," He says, his voice full of worry.

"I-I can't," I say.

"You have to, you're too important to die Tris, I can't let that happen," he says. I shake my head.

"I don't want anything bad happening," I say. I cry into his shoulder.

"I have an idea," He says. I look up into his deep blue eyes, which are full of worry.

"Security tapes," He says. I nod and we rush out the door. We walk to the control room.

"Hey Four, catch," Someone yells. Tobias and I turn around but there's a knife in Tobias's thigh. He collapses on the ground and the person who threw it is gone. Tobias grabs his hip in pain.

"Babe, don't take it out," I say, guiding his bloody hands away from his hip. He grits his teeth in pain.

"Tris, get help," He croaks. I see Zeke running over.

"What happened?" He asks.

"Someone threw a knife, help me?" I ask. We lift Tobias off the ground and I sling an arm around my shoulder. He hops with Zeke and I.

"Hang on babe," I whisper. We head to the emergency room.

Tobias has been unconcious for a half hour now. I'm sitting by his bedside, grasping his hand. His deep blue eyes are closed and his face is placid. His thigh is stitched and bandaged and he won't be able to walk for a while. Thank god that person's aim was off. He could have been hit in the stomach or the chest.

I rub circles around his knuckles, hoping that soon, his eyes will flutter open, and he'll smile at me.

I'm furious. I really can't let the fact that someone is trying to hurt everyone I love. A tear slips down my face, knowing that I will have to go to Erudite once Tobias is better.

Tobias's eyes open slowly, and I smile.

"Tris," He croaks. I brush my thumb over his cheek,

"You're okay, your leg is stitched up, I'm  here," I say. A tear slips down his face, and I brush it away.

"Does it hurt?" I ask. He nods. I hand him a pill that the nurse left me if it hurt him. He gladly swallows it.

"Tris, you're not leaving me," He says. I sigh.

"Look, if i'm gone, no one will get hurt," I say. He sits up.

"Tris, please, I don't know what I would do without you," He says. I sit next to him on the bed, and he wraps his arm around me. I lean my head into his chest.

"I need to, you can find a way to survive without me." I say. He sighs.

"Can you not put yourself into dangerous situations? Can't you just for once let someone else take the bullet?" He says. I look at him.

"Tobias, they want me, not you, not anyone else, me. It's my decision if I go or not." I say back. I stand up.

"I'll get you something to eat," I say. I leave the hospital room and head to the cafeteria. No one's in here since it's well past breakfast and too early for lunch. I grab a muffin and head back.

I don't want to leave, but it's what's best for all of us. I walk into Tobias's room and hand him the muffin.

"Thanks," He says. I nod and lay next to him. I face him, and he lays on his back. I rub circles around his shoulder as he eats the muffin.

"Look, Tobias, I don't want to go. But what if they get to my family?" I say. He sighs.

"I don't know what it's like to have someone in your family get hurt, I never cared about mine, but I do know I would care if you got hurt. You're my family," He says. I grasp his hand.

"And you're mine," I say. I pick off a piece of his muffin and pop it into my mouth. I have to figure a way to get out of this.

I head to Christina's room after Tobias falls asleep. I need someone to talk to.

"What?" She groans as I reach the door. I almost forgot it's 11 o'clock at night.

"Sorry, can I talk to you? It's really important," I say. She motions for me to come inside and we sit on the couch.

"What's up?" She asks, rubbing her eyes.

"I need to go to Erudite," I say. She looks at me confused.

"Why?" She asks.

"I got a letter telling me to go, and if I don't then everyone I love will get hurt," I say.

"Why do they want you?" She asks. I think for a minute.

"I don't know," I say. It hits me like a bullet. Divergent. The word stings.

"Well, I don't know what they want you for, but you can't go. They could kill you. They're ruthless," She says. I nod.

"I have to go, T-Four might need me," I say. I walk briskly out of her apartment and to the hospital. I burst into Tobias's room.

"Tobias," I say. He shoots up in bed, then winces from his thigh.

"Sorry," I say. "I found out why they want me," I say.

"Why?" He asks. I sit down next to him. I check for security cameras.

"Divergent," I whisper. He tensed at the word too.

"You're still not going, promise me," He says. I take a deep breath.

"That's a promise I can't make," I say. He begs.

"Tris, please. I need you," He says.

"I know, I need you too. Maybe we can fight back, plan something," I say. He nods at the idea.

"Tobias, I have an idea," I say, smiling. He returns the smile.
