Nakita ko na mahigpit na hinawakan sa braso si Madel nung lalaki.
Gusto ko silang sundan, pero naramdaman ko ang paghigpit ng pagkakaakbay sa akin ni Reid.
"Mine, the kids are with us," bulong nito.
Then I saw him throw a meaningful look at Kuya Ramon.
Medyo nakalma ako nung pasimpleng sundan ni Kuya Ramon sina Madel.
"Thanks, Half," I whispered back.
As we walk to a food stall, tinawag ako ni Hope.
"Mommy..."
"Yes, ate?"
I started calling her Ate when the twins are around.
Inilahad nya ang kamay. May hawak syang may kalumaang at manipis na wallet.
"Tita Madel put this on my hand. She told me to hide it then she walked away," may pagtatampo sa boses nito.
Naiintindihan ko si Hope. Sobrang close sila ni Madel noon.
She waited for Madel to contact us but she never did. Her cp number was always unattended.
We tried to send her private messages sa FB but there was no reply. The messages were not even read.
When I checked her profile, the last activity there as when she was still with us.
My daughter was expecting na at least makikipagkwentuhan sa amin ang dati nyang nurse.
Mabilis iyung kinuha ni Reid at ibinulsa, "I'll keep it for a while, princess. Let's enjoy our vacation first and we will get in touch with Madel, ok?"
"O-ok, daddy."
Kahit di kami mag-usap ni Reid, alam naming may problema. Pero hindi namin pinahalata sa mga bata na nag-aalala kami para kay Madel.
Lalo na nung bumalik si Kuya Ramon.
"Sir, no plate registered ang plaka nung kotse na sinakyan nila. Yung modelo lang ng kotse ang nakuha ko. Paalis na yung sasakyan pagdating ko sa parking."
"Half..."
"Don't worry, Mine, I'll have Rob check on it. Maybe you should call Douche Bag, too."
Mabuti na lang at last stop na namin ang Dinosaur Island for today and we were at the end of the tour.
We headed back to the resthouse pagkatapos mag-snack.
Maaga rin kaming nag-dinner then prepared the kids to bed. Pagod ang mga ito sa mga pinuntahan namin. Antok na nga si Ashley kaninang naghahapunan.
When Reid and I were alone in our room, nilabas nya yung wallet na iniwan ni Madel.
May ilang pirasong one hundred at twenty-peso bills doon. Ilang nakatuping resibo, picture ni Madel karga ang anak, pero medyo malayo ang kuha at isang village association ID.
The village was somewhere in La Union, but what brought more worries to me was the name under Madel's picture.
