Chapter: 29

~ Sans P.O.V ~

"lb, ya betta go ahead and go to bed too, i can handle the the rest." I say sitting down on the couch.

"Nah, I'm not tired yet. Besides, I was gonna help Michael and Papy with the office for Alpha." They respond.

"i'm sure they can handle it, besides paps wouldn't want ya doing that no ways." I explain. "we have other stuff to don't tomorrow too, so i recommend a full nights sleep, or do i hafta do ya like i did boss."

"No, no. I can go." They reply, their face seeming a little on the down side.

"what's up? somethins botherin ya?" I ask.

"Well, Alpha is becoming the new boss. There's no doubt people are gonna want her to be, but is that gonna change the family?" They ask.

"oh no, alpha would never change on us." I say. "well, except for that wolf form." I add and we start laughing. "anyways, ya don't have to worry about her, ya know as well as i do she'd never not have time for us."

"Of course Sans." They reply standing up and stretching. "Well, I'm off to bed, we have a big week heading our way."

"night lb." I say as they walk off. As the door closes, I teleport to where Gaster is, his lab. "how's it going?"

"It seems she is save-able, though it's going to take some time." He says letting out a sigh. "That aside, how is Alpha?"

"she's doin good, takin over the boss roll. she don't know it yet." I say chuckling.

"She is the best match considering we're on the surface now." He sighs. "You know, you and Frisk are going to have to step it up and I'll have a few more things too."

"yeah, i'm well aware. she's gotten mostly everything we need. we need some people on construction if we want that building done in a month." I say.

"I already sent a few people to begin, of course, this shouldn't take too long seeing as though we're monster with magic." He says looking at the monitor.

"cool g. so, how are ya gonna treat ma?" I ask.

"Well, if it all comes down to it, I'm going to have to inject her soul with a little magic for it to enhance the probability of her survival." He explains. "What about Alpha's condition?"

"She said it should be gone by morning, but I doubt it. If it hasn't gone away yet, she's probably stuck with from now on." I say walking around the lab.

"I wonder if I can reverse-engineer that one gene. It is very powerful." He says hooking Ray's mom soul up to an IV bag and slowly allow magic to seep inside. "I am going to leave her here for now and check on her tomorrow."

"a'ight. i'm gonna go and get some rest. paps and michael should be in the house now." I say looking over at him. "seeya at home."

I arrive back at the house and Michael is sitting on the couch with the TV on. I walk over and sit down next to him.

"Hey Sans, I didn't hear you come in." He says.

"hey kid, is pap in his room?" I ask.

"Yeah. He's been working hard, I think he should take a break tomorrow." He says and I start laughing.

"ya don't know my brother if ya think he should take a break. he'll tire himself out and still work." I explain shaking my head. "he's the coolest."

"That he is, that he is Sans." He says smiling. "Oh, here. Grillby said to get these to Boss. Who is boss?" He asks handing me a stack of papers.

"a few of us has started calling alpha, boss. she's been on her toes since we got up here, protecting us from whatever is a threat." I say stretching.

"Makes sense, she was always good at leading." He gets up and walks into the kitchen. "I'll go to bed soon, I need to put food in the bowls for the dogs, they'll drop in in the morning."

"a'ight. i'm goin to do the same." I say heading upstairs and into my room. I see Pap fast asleep in his bed on the other side of the room. I take off my suit and change into my pajamas. I flop on the bed and fall asleep in no time at all. In the morning, I hear the sound of barking and pans hitting the floor. I shoot up out of my bed and look over to see Pap gone. I walk out of my room and down the steps where I see an Alpha on the floor.

"I tripped over my tail." She says giggling awkwardly. "Sorry for waking you up."

"no problem, i needed to get up anyway. where is lb?" I ask.

"I don't know, she said something about having a shift in the city, an assignment from Gaster. Michael and Pap left a little while ago, around 8 this morning to work on another structure, and the meeting is in 2 hours." She explains still lying on the floor, the dogs surrounding her.

"well, i'm glad ya okay. so, what about ya ears and tail?" I ask.

"Just gonna have to live with I guess. Doesn't really make a difference now." She says getting off of the floor. "I'm gonna go ahead and make a quick breakfast, you can go and shower, I'll get in after you." She says.

"a'ight. let me know if ya need anything." I reply heading back upstairs and grabbing some clothes. I make my way into the bathroom and turn the water on. I let the water trickle down my bones. I see why humans shower so often, it allows something to hit you body that doesn't in involve beatings or shootings or electric volts. Things are about to get real messy real quick with monsters being up here. It's been about two or three months and we've already taken down two of the big ones. The others should be on guard now and looking for any info.
