Chapter: 39

Sans leaves to pick up Jackie from the hotel and I sit outside to relax. I take  stroll through the woods and I start to notice that the wolves aren't around. They normally meet me whenever I walk through here, but they have yet to show up. I start to investigate the area and find a few tranquilizing darts scattered, stuck on the trees. I weigh my options and make my way back to the house only to have darts shot at me. I dodge them and climb the trees, using that as cover. I text LB and tell them the situation. I wait for a minute and two people past, searching. I can smell Lb getting close, I attack the first guy and LB gets the second guy. I stab them with the tranquilizer darts and they slowly stopped struggling. We haul them back to the house where Sans and Jackie are waiting.

"What just happened?" Jackie asks.

"These guys were chasing me, and my wolves, they're missing." I say concerned.

"don't worry, we'll find'em." Sans says. "All of them."

"I got a bad feeling about this." I say as a chill is sent up my spine.

"do ya want to leave out now?" He asks me and I nod. "a'ight, we're goin. jackie, get ready for ya first mission."

"Alright. What do I need?" He asks and we all look at him.

"Just focus on not dying." I say leaving out. I hear rustling in the bushes and immediately stand on defense until I catch a familiar scent. "Nice try Monster kid, but you can't hide from me." I say and he comes out.

"Can I go?" He asks.

"Not this time. I'll take you on another one, I promise." I say.

"But I can help." He pleads.

"I know you can, but I want to be sure everyone sees your awesome skills. So, promise me you will wait for next time." I reply.

"Fine. I promise." He says pouting.

"Alright. Now do me a favor and watch the house while we head down to Alate Gamma." I say and he nods. We vanish right before his eyes, before reappearing on the edge of town. Jackie wobbles for second, grabbing his stomach from nausea.

"can ya pick up on their scent?" Sans asks me.

"I can, but you know this is a trap to lure me out. You guys can go back if you want to, I won't stop you." I say looking up at them.

"we're not goin anywhere." Sans says. "well, lb and i sure ain't but i dunno bout jackie."

"I'm not going to leave her behind, no matter what happens." Jackie says.

"Thanks guys, you're the best." I say and my ear begins to twitch. "I can hear them, it's faint, but I got something."

"Lead the way, we're right behind you." LB says and I take off full speed, Sans uses a blaster to keep up while LB drags Jackie along, his feet flowing with the wind. We keep this is up for a while, long enough to consider it five miles at least. Then I come to a stop at the building itself, Alate Gamma.

"Guys, I think I know why I never liked this building." I say as they all stop right behind me.

"What do you mean?" LB questions putting Jackie down.

"The name. It's the name, it's an anagram." I reply.

"Oh yeah, you used to be really good at picking out anagrams in class. The whole class thought you were crazy, I just wish I could do that." Jackie says.

"so, what do ya think the original form of the letters are?" Sans asks me.

"Let me see..... four As, two Ms, and one L, G, T. If you scramble them around........ a little more...... you could sp......ell....... Am....alg.....am.......ate. You could spell Amalgamate!" I yell. "Man it's been a while since I've done that."

"an amalgamate, to combine or unite somethin." Sans says aloud.

"Then those experiments they're doing......" LB adds on.

"They're trying to combine creatures together, but for what?" I say.

"Wow, not only are you a tricky wolf, but very clever too." A voice emerges from the side of the building.

"Marco." I say turning in his direction, watching as he ascends from the shadows.

"You got away once, but that's not going to happen again and I see you brought some friends to join you. Don't worry, you'll be be with the dogs soon." He says slowly walking towards.

"keep this up, and ya gonna have a bad time." Sans says, his eye glowing blue.

"You think we should leave this one to Sans? We have been taking all the kills lately." I turn to LB.

"I don't see a problem with that. It'll give Jackie a reason not to overstep his boundaries." LB replies.

"Come on guys, after being around him, he's not even scary." Jackie butts in the conversation and the two of us burst out in laughter.

"You guys have big balls if you think a skeleton can beat me." Marco says interrupting the fun.

"Whatever Marco, just tell me where my wolves are and we can leave with no bloodshed." I say yawning. I suddenly pick up on a whining sound coming from behind the building and I shift my head.

"You heard it too." LB says looking at me.

"ya know where the canines are pup?" Sans asks me and I nod my head. "let's go get them."

"They're behind the building." I say dashing in the opposite direction and everyone follows behind me. When we reach the back of the building we see guys unloading cages with the wolves in them. I run up and kick the guy unloading the cages onto the floor and Marco comes out of no where.

"That's a bad idea." He says pulling a gun out. "This time you won't get away."

"Geez kid, you're a pain. Sans, you can handle the other guys, I'll keep him busy. LB, Jackie, free the canines." I command and the plan is set in motion. Marco aims at LB and Jackie, but regain his attention when I throw a rock at him and follow up by pouncing on top of him causing him to drop the gun.

"You must have been trained by the boss himself, you are beyond the normal training of mafioso. Why don't you join us? That offer is still on the table, I'm sure your boss won't mind." He says.

"Gosh you're stupider than you look." I reply sitting him up, forcing him to watch Sans' battle. Sans summons bones and pierce one of the guys straight through the chest and head, killing him instantly. One guy sneaks up from behind and attacks, but Sans dodges it and shoots him with a blaster, disintegrating his entire body. The last guy tries to run him over with the truck but Sans lifts it off the ground with his power, turns it upside down and smashes him to the ground several times. He then proceeds to approach me and Marco.

"done." He says letting out a sigh.

"Wow, talk about ground beef." I say and we both start laughing.

"I'm guessing this skeleton is the boss, it only make sense." Marco says aloud. "He is strong and smart, and handled that situation like it was a walk in the park."

"you'll meet the boss, but ya won't like how it ends for ya. they'll tear ya to shreds inna instant." Sans says looking at Marco.

"Done!" LB yells and all the dogs disperse in different directions, heading home.

"well, we'll catch ya later." Sans says, teleporting the four of us back to the house.
