Chapter: 41

"He was killed?! By who?" I ask my sadness twisting, shifting, turning into rage and anger.

'We don't know. He doesn't have a familiar scent on him at all.'

"An unrecognizable scent? Maybe it was one the guys from Alate Gamma, maybe they sent one of their amalgamations." I say. "I'm gonna head back to the house. You guys stay together at all costs!"

'Can do!'

I run into the house almost knocking over the book shelf. Sans and LB both pop up on red alert.

"what is it?!" Sans asks.

"Who all is here?" I ask.

"jus us three. ya moms left with gaster and others and paps is out on errands." He says. "what's wrong?"

"It's Knight. He didn't just die, he was killed." I say.

"What?!" LB yells.

"The main problem is that none of them recognizes the scent. He had bite marks and claw marks him, but none them know where the scent came from." I explain.

"maybe one of the canines in the pack did it." Sans says and both LB and I glare at him. "or not."

"I would have known, I know all of their scents. If it was one them, I'd have to kill them on the spot, they'd be considered a rogue." I explain. "It's not something I ever thought I'd have to do. It's like someone in the monster community killing another monster"

"so ya tellin me that someone killed a wolf......... on these grounds......... and none of the other wolves know the scent of the killer. this is a real mystery, how are we gonna get to bottom of this?" Sans says shaking his head.

"We're going to drop it for now, as much as I want to slaughter the bastard that did it, we have more important matters." I reply clenching my fist.

"are ya sure?" He asks.

"Yeah, let's just drop it for now. The wolves are going to stick together to make sure nothing else happens. There's no need for me to stress over this right now, dwelling on it will just cause me to just........" I trail off, stopping my sentence there. "Just forget it." I say walking off.

"alpha wait." Sans says causing me to stop in my tracks. "ya know we can work through this together. we're always here if ya need us pup."

"I know, I just have a lot going on. I'll manage, I can deal with this so don't worry." I reply before I continue out of the door.

~ Sans' P.O.V ~

I watch as she leaves out the door. I know she's stressing, she's hurt, she needs someone more than ever right now, but I don't know how to help her, I don't know what to do. My mind is scrambled right now, I can't think clearly.

"Sans!" LB yells and I bring my mind back. "Finally. She needs you right now, you need to go after her. I'll handle anything that needs to be done, just go make sure she's okay."

"a'ight." I say nodding my head and dashing out the door to catch p with Alpha. I see her trudging ahead, straight towards the town. "Aapha! wait!" I call out.

"Sans, I said I'm fine." She says as I come to a halt trying to catch my breath. "You don't need to follow me around to make sure I'm okay."

"i know ya not okay. ya can't hide it from me or lb, we already know. look, we're goin to be there for ya no matter what and we're goin to help ya through this, don't shut us out." I say grabbing her hand and she flinches slightly.

"I'm sorry, I can't think straight right now. I need to relax a little." She says taking a deep breath.

"i know. howzabout we head down to the docks, jus me and you like old times. lb is gonna handle everything for ya." I say taking her hand and taking a short cut to the docks.

"I feel terrible. I need to find out who killed Knight so that doesn't happen again, I need to keep up with Alate Gamma, and I need get those shipments." She says face-palming herself. "I totally forgot about the shipments."

"don't worry, undyne and alphys picked up the clothes, the cars will be picked up in a week, and the calls to the others were already made. they'll be arrivin within a month or so which gives us time to renovate the house, but i'm lb is gonna get them on that soon enough." I explain.

"You guys are really the best, even when I lose my head. I don't know what I'd do without you guys, I don't know how to thank you all." She replies almost ready to cry.

"no need to thank us, we're here to support our boss. we're wicha every step of the way, we're family and that's what family do." I say petting her head. She sits down on and hangs her feet over the edge, sticking them in the water.

"Thank you Sans, I feel a lot better." She says and I sit down next to her wrapping my arms around her. I notice her ears begin to shift.

"what's wrong?" I ask.

"Someone's coming. No, there's more, way more than what I thought." She says popping up out of my arms and I stand up next to her. The boards begin to rumble as they approach us. They cut off the only path, blocking it with their bodies and guns. Then some guy walks out in front of them.

"Hello there friends, long time no see. Didya miss me." Marco says flinging his trench coat behind him.

"y'know that only works works if ya as cool as her." I say pointing to Alpha.

"But I'm way cooler than her. Speaking of her, what is her name?" He asks taking a step forward.

"ya think ya cooler than her. the only other person on that level of cool is my brother and our other friend." I say stretching and I hear the guns go up.

"You guys seem a little uptight, you should loosen up, lay down your weapons." She says and I use my magic to to take their weapons from them. They look up a little panicked and I drop them in the water behind us. "Now then, what did you come here for?"

"We came here to make a deal." He says. Alpha looks at him a skeptically, but gives him her undivided attention. "Word round town is some new mafia gang moved in and has already taken down the number 5, Fontaine and the number 3, Incorporeal. Howsabout we work together to stop this gang."

"Oh yeah, I've heard about that. Apparently they're called MCC." She responds.

"Yeah stands for Monster Corpse Collection. I can see why they used Monster figuratively, only a monster organization could take them down." He says.

"or literally." I say and Alpha starts laughing. "anyways, we are goin to have to decline that offer." I add.

"Speaking for the boss when they're not here. If you would please ask him yourself before self proclaiming." He says.

"Look the answer is no and that's final." She says.

"It's not final, you two are coming with me." He says snapping his finger. I grab Alpha's hand and try teleporting, but everything suddenly goes black.
