Chapter: 38

Monster kid and I start on the construction, fixing up the bar, cleaning the floor, and painting the walls. We finish up right as the sun begins setting. The gray borders compliment the lavender walls quite nicely.

"Looks like we're finished here. I love the lavender you picked out." I say.

"Really?" He says.

"Yeah, it reminds me of the docks near the waterfall underground, the crystals were really pretty. Now, let's get you home before your parents start worrying." I say picking him up. I carry him through the town and he falls asleep in my arms. I drop him off at the complex and head home to turn in for the night, or so I thought.

"hey pup, ya gotta letter. one of the canines brought it inside." He says handing me a sealed letter. I open and read.

'Hello friend,
Meet me tomorrow at Alate Gamma for a nice cup of coffee. See you at 1:00.'

I crumble up the paper and toss it in the trash then make my way to my room where LB was.

"How'd your day go?" LB questions.

"Interesting. Monster kid and I bought a building for the cafe. We fixed it up before we left, painted it and polished the floors." I reply yawning as I change into pajamas.

"You should get some sleep. You probably have a handful of stuff to do tomorrow." LB pats my head as I lie down on the bed and before I know it, I'm out like a light. This time I sleep in until noon and awake feeling a lot lighter than before. I hop in the shower and head downstairs where breakfast is wrapped up neatly on the table. I heat it up and eat it then brush my teeth before leaving out. I drop in the cafe and sit there for a few minutes before ordering an iced tea. I take my seat and wait for a while before someone takes a seat at my table.

"Hello, I see you got my letter. I'm Marco." The male says. He sits across from me, his hair slicked back revealing his gem green eyes. His face was chiseled which fit him perfectly.

"I did, now what do you want?" I ask.

"I want you to bring me a few of your family members." He says.

"Don't expect me to hand them over so easy if you don't tell me why." I reply.

"Well, a few friends of mine are doing some experiments, creating things. I think you'll be very interested in this." He says.

"I would love to participate in this nonsense, but I have to reject your offer." I reply politely as a lady walks my tea over to me and leave.

"We don't want to have to take them by force because then your boss would know what's up. We need you pull some strings for us." He says.

"I said no, and don't even think about taking them because the results will not be pretty." I say getting up.

"At least tell me your name before you go, you're so pretty." He says.

"Don't bother, we won't be seeing each other after this, hopefully." I say walking out and my phone starts ringing.

'hey pup, muffet just got here. what do ya need me to do?'

"Fill her in on the situation and tell her the store is ready to be opened whenever."

'a'ight.'

I hang up the phone and continue out of the shop and then I hear footsteps behind me and a gun is held to my back. He pokes me twice pushing me forward and we proceed into an alley way. My phone starts ringing again and he gives me the motion to answer.

"Yeah."

'what time are ya gonna to be home t'night?'

"Not sure, depends on when I finish with my errands. I might drop in and take a nap otherwise my work is gunna kill me sooner or later."

'i see, any details?'

"Oh yeah, tell Muffet that make sure she has her best pastries because we're putting that Alate Gamma out of business. Well, I'll see you later."

I hang up the phone, put it back in my pocket and look up at Marco who still had the gun pointed at me.

"You seem very important to them, I guess I can't kill you right away." He says smiling.

"You can't kill me at all. If I really wanted to, I could kill you, but I don't know anything about you and so as far as I know, you've done nothing wrong." I reply shrugging.

"Feisty, you wanna take down our company and you think you can kill me, the person who has a gun pointed to your face." He says chuckling.

"Oh, so you work for the guy that owns this Alate Gamma place? Why does he want to experiment on my family?" I ask looking at him intently.

"We only use the finest specimen to experiment on and you have an entire family on you. The only thing is, we only want the ones who can endure the tests we put them through." He explains.

"And you think that's going to get me to help you? Hell no, I refuse to hand my family over." I say looking past the gun and straight into his eyes.

"How much is your boss paying you, I can triple that amount. We can give you everything you whatever wanted. Just don't make this so hard on me or anyone else that has to put with this, just come with me." He says.

"No. You are obviously not going to kill me and I can't kill you because you have a radio on and your sniper would shoot as soon has I attacked." I say and he takes a step back.

"How did you know that? They're not even visible to the naked eye and my radio isn't remotely visible." He questions.

"Well, if you look for a fine specimen, you get one." I say removing my hat and jacket from around my waist. "I'm a wolf. I heard your radio static-king a bit before you stepped foot in the door, that frequency is super annoying and I can smell your sniper. She smells good too, what kind of perfume is that? Now if you would excuse me, I have somewhere else to be right now."

"Stop or I'll shoot." He threatens.

"Do you really think you can shoot something that can smell danger from over a mile away, in that direction." I say pointing in the direction of his sniper. His whips around and I take the chance to escape dashing around the corner and climbing the wall. He comes around not long after and searches for me, but has no luck. When he passes by, I hop down and into the sewers, taking them to the nearest sewer whole at the edge of town. I walk the rest of the way, showing up at the house about ten minutes later. "I'm home." I say and LB hops the banister and land on top of me.

"You had us worried!" LB yells at me.

"I'm sorry." I reply.

"BOSS, I'M GLAD TO SEE YOU UNHARMED." Papyrus says making his way down the steps. "PLEASE, BE MORE CAREFUL NEXT TIME."

"I'm sorry Paps, I'll be sure to always have my guard up." I say.

"y'know ya coulda told me to come and get ya, i'll always be there when ya need me." Sans says walking up and patting my head.

"I know, but it wasn't necessary. I got out of the situation myself. So, where is everyone else?" I ask.

"mom and gaster are at lab workin on her magic tricks and ya brother decided to take regular classes to condition himself for LB's classes." He explains.

"And Jackie?" I add.

"oh, the computer nerd went back to the hotel. he said he would be back tomorrow." He replies.

"We need to renovate the house. Jackie needs to be living with us from now on. He'll be on the couch until we finish building the extra rooms." I reply looking at the ceiling.

"a'ight. do ya want me to pick the kid up?" He asks.

"Yeah, please do. We can't have anything happening to him, after all, the people from Alate Gamma are after the monsters here. If he wants my family, he'll have to kill me first." I say.

"and we're not lettin that happen." Sans says.
