Chapter: 55

~ Alpha's P.O.V ~

I couldn't tell what was going on. My vision was so blurry and then it faded to a vibrant red. It was hard to fight whatever this was, I don't know how my mom put up with it for as long as she did. This would make any normal person suicidal. It gave me the worst headache possible and I felt my stomach doing so many turns as I tried to fight back. Whatever this was wasn't friendly and had no intention of giving in at any given moment. I kept hearing people yelling at me, but it sounded so distorted that I couldn't make out any of the words. Suddenly, everything went black and before me was a tainted red heart and mine was in front of me. There was a panel of selections to choose from: Fight, Act, Item, and Mercy. I've seen this before, in the underground. It's happen occasionally, but not too often and it's super rare for it to happen on the surface, it reminded me of a game. It was my turn and I stood there for a second before selecting.

Act > Check > Rogue - ATK: ??? DEF: ???

*Don't let your guard down.

*It knows your weakness.

My turn ends and it attacks me. A few gleams of light appear and then lasers follow behind it almost burning me. I move out of the way and wait for it's turn to end.

*ACT > CALL

*You call out for help

*But nobody came

The soul attacks me again, this time sending what seemed like claws. They swung back and forth in the box, aiming for my soul. I dodge, but just barely get nicked and my HP goes down a little. I can feel something calling out to me, this warm and familiar feeling that I know all too well. I reach out to them and try to bring them back.

ACT > SAVE

*You felt a hand grab yours. You saved your mother from the soul.

*But wait, there seems to be two more people there.

*Can you reach them before it's too late?

~ Frisk's P.O.V ~

"For you to be such a young one, you sure are agile." The man says.

"Shut up." I can hear her say as she continuously attacks him.

"Oh, so I guess you don't want to know about her parents. I mean you were snooping through government files after all." He says and I jerk my body back. They groan out of frustration.

"I don't care, but this twerp here does. What happened to Alpha's parents. Where are they?" They ask.

"They're here and very much alive. I've been using them to conduct my experiments, only the best can be tolerated. If you want them back, give up." He says snapping his fingers and crates above us hit the ground. They break revealing two bodies and they stand up, almost lifeless as though they had no soul. They sort of resembled the the people in the video from earlier, just a little older.

"What did you do to them?" They ask standing there anxiously.

"I did nothing. This was all their fault, they messed up an experiment. They wanted to look into soul extraction because of their curiosity in the past war with humans and monster souls that happened oh so long ago. As you can see, they succeeded in accidentally extracting their own souls." He explains laughing. I let out a sigh and that's when they started up again, the bloodlust oozed from their body and into the air. This was risky, I was betting on getting my back after this, but knowing them, they'll probably just keep my soul.

"lb!" I hear Sans yell but my body doesn't react at all. Of course not, it's not me controlling my body anymore. I can see a quick glance to side and Sans is there, he jerks back and stares for a second. "ya really did it, didnya? wish i coulda stopped ya." He says before turning toward the man and two people in front of us.

"Comedian." They say before getting back to attacking them. They try and go after the the adults, but I pull the body back forcing them to stop. "Fine." They say.

"ya know she's gonna be pissed when she comes back." Sans says.

"If she comes back." They say chuckling. "You don't know? After she absorbed that soul, it started to overtake her and shes having a hard time dealing with it too."

"alpha. dammit, ya always doin things the hard way." I hear him say.

"You two seem be a bit dazed. Maybe you didn't know, but they came up with a way to extract souls a lot more quickly and efficiently. Let's see how you do against mindless scientist." He says snapping his fingers. Their bodies moved in such a lifeless motion, it was almost like they were actually dead. They each grabbed a device from the broken pieces in the crate. It looked like it a musket, but the barrel of the gun curved outward more. There seemed to be a glass container installed into as well, I'm assuming that was for holding the souls. They charged directly toward is with no hesitation, shooting at us what seemed to be a dart, a tranquilizer dart maybe.

"are these two scientists......" Sans sentence trails off as he dodges them.

"Yes, they are her parents and they have been quite the help in my current experiment. It's funny, they asked me to help them find their daughter, the one that wolf ran off with. Boy, they may be geniuses, but they are really stupid. Blinded by the love for their child." He laughs maniacally at the statement.

"lb, can ya come back?" He asks me and I cringe at the thought. I hear another sigh and before I know it, I have my body back. I'm almost amazed at how reluctantly they gave it up.

"Got it." I say dodging the next set of darts flying my way. "Can you pin them down?"

"it wont work, they dont have souls anymore. i dont understand how they are still walkin round." He says. "shit."
