Josh's Point Of View

Tell me how you feel over and done with, like your life is a map with no compass to guide

"Agh, not again," I hear Y/N mutter as she struggles with the 16 mark question our history teacher has given us for homework. To be honest, I'm finding it extremely hard, but I know Y/N adores history, so finding a question hard must be devastating for her.
"You need help?" I whisper to her, "we could work on it together?"
"No, I'll be fine," she whispers back, despite the library being jam packed with people. Y/N looks at the clock.
"Crap, we've got to go to Art catch up. C'mon, J," she says, hastily putting her things away in her bag.
"Y/N, wait," I say.
"What, Josh?" She snaps, turning to face me.
"We don't have Art catch up today. We've got it tomorrow." She looks at me sadly. Then she bursts into tears. I instantly wrap my arms around her as she sobs, gripping onto my shirt.
"Hey, what's wrong?" I say softly.
"I can't do it anymore. They said Year 11 was going to be hard, but not this hard. I feel like my life is over and done with," she whimpers. That's when an idea pops into my head.
"Y/N, look at me. I've got an idea. Meet me on your balcony at 8pm tonight, ok, babe?" She nods, wiping her eyes.
"Ok, how come?"
"You'll see."

I wanna be your lost boy, your last chance, a better reality.

I hold the red rose between my teeth, and start to the climb the tree that leads to Y/N's balcony. I get several scratches, but I don't care. Once I hop over the balcony railing, I knock on the door. Y/N appears, and she smiles at the rose between my teeth.
"Oh, Jishwa, you look adorable," she laughs. She's just got a tartan dress on with ripped black jeans and combat boots on underneath. She smiles at my dark purple shirt and black school trousers and trainers that I haven't bothered to change. She ruffles my purple hair, and walks out into the warm summer air, shutting the balcony door behind us.
"C'mon, babe," I say to her, handing her the rose, "let's go on an adventure." She starts to expertly climb down the tree, and I follow.
"How come you wanna go an adventure?"
"I wanna be your last chance at some freedom before that school imprisons us both," I say with a chuckle.

We'll start a life of the plain and simple

Once we reach the bottom of the tree, we race out of her backyard, and I grab her hand as we run into the streets, laughing at being young and in love.
"So where are we going?" Y/N asks me. I don't reply, instead running into the maze that leads us into the local park. I climb up into the treehouse me and my friend Tyler found one day. I motion for Y/N to climb up, which she does. She gasps as she sees what I've laid out for her. The treehouse is covered in fairly lights, and there's a table for two by the window with a dinner of jacket potato and beans set up. There's also orange juice in two cups. I pull out the chair for Y/N, and she sits down. I take my seat, and we say thanks for dinner before tucking into it.
"Hmmm, this is lovely," Y/N compliments.
"Why thank you. I think we both deserve this little date. So, um, about our future," I say. Y/N nods at me.
"Yeah, about our future?"
"Um, well, I was wondering, maybe we'd like to live together one day in the future. I've been looking at some colleges that teach music technology or just music in general," I explain.
"Anything else other than music?" Y/N chuckles, taking a mouthful of beans. She swallows, then explains about how she wants to go to college to study English Language and Literature, History, and Sociology, then go to university in order to study Creative Writing. I smile, my heart warming up at how much thought she's put into her future. I love how her face lights up whenever she talks about anything she loves, and how she has an amazing sense of style, and her hard-working attitude.
"You wanna know something, Y/N?" I say.
"What?"
"You're going to go far, babe. Honestly, I'm not kidding. Yeah, it's hella hard sometimes, and you'll make mistakes, but you're a wonderful person with such a lovely personality, and you're going to go on an amazing adventure, you know that right?" I take a sip of my orange juice whilst I see her tear up, and then she gets up, and hugs me tightly. I hug her back just as tightly.
"Thank you, Josh," she whispers to me, "and you wanna know something? You're going to the exact thing. I just know it."
