"W-what are you doing there, I mean, here?" Kat asks Josh. The woman who's holding onto his arm looks behind her anxiously.
"I could ask you the same," Josh replies emotionlessly. "My goodness, you've changed a lot," he adds, looking at her, taking particular notice of her light blue jaw length hair, her bright tattoos that cover her arms, her pale skin, the bags under her bright green eyes, which are framed with the same mad scientist glasses that Rou wears. Josh looks concerned when he notices the blood stains on Kat's hospital gown.
"What happened to you?" The woman asks. She has an American accent, and her tone of voice is quite high pitched, but also quite soft, and Kat is instantly reminded of Mitchell's companion, Kerry, who also talks like this.
"What are you waiting for, Christmas?" A voice asks from behind Kat. She turns around and spots Rory. Freya the cat walks up to Josh and the woman, sniffing around them with her little pink nose.
"Oh, Josh, look, he's ADORABLE!" The woman says, bending down to pick up Freya.
"Don't touch her!" Kat snaps at her. The woman looks up and frowns at Kat.
"Why shouldn't I?"
"Look, Debby, it's getting dark; let's go inside and out of the cold," Josh says, gently pushing the woman called Debby in with his hand on the small of her back.
He used to do that with me, Kat thinks angrily to herself as she walks into the living room of the cabin.
"Who is it?" Chris asks Kat. Kat ignores him, and sits down on an old armchair. Freya trots into the room, followed by Rory, Josh and Debby.
"Where's Rou and Rob?" Rory asks, sitting on the sofa next to Chris.
"Rou's having a shower, and Rob is making some toast," Chris replies, moving up on the sofa to make room for Rory. Josh sits on a dining room chair, and Debby sits on the floor. To Kat's horror, Freya starts to cuddle up to Debby, who's petting Freya's back.
"She doesn't like-" Kat starts, but Rou enters the room, his hair soaking wet, dressed in black jeans and socks. and is currently doing up the buttons on his shirt, which has zebra stripes on it. Debby raises her eyebrows slightly at Rou, who looks a little surprised at the couple.
"Well, if I knew we had guests, I wouldn't have come in here with my shirt open," he chuckles, picking up Freya, who mews slightly at being disturbed from being petted.
"Is this your cat?" Debby asks Rou.
"Yeah. This is Freya, and I'm Rou." They shake hands, and Kat pretends that she's not watching them.

After Rob comes in from making toast, Josh looks over at Kat.
"Why are you here?" He asks her. Everyone stops and stares at them.
"Oh, so you don't talk to me in a year, and then the first thing you ask me is why I'm here?! God, Josh, we'd been together for 5 years, I would've thought you'd figure it out by now," Kat snaps, glaring at him.
"Yeah, well, I wasn't the one who got wasted and started kissing another guy!"
"At least I was treating you like you were your age and not your shoe size! Honestly, you have no idea how annoying you were! You were more like a parent than my boyfriend, constantly breathing down my neck, asking me if I was ok when I had a simple stomach ache, asking if my breathing was ok. You honestly never rested!"
"You went through hell during those last 5 years!"
"Yeah, because of YOU! You know something? I don't regret getting wasted and kissing another guy; for once, I felt happy. He didn't ask if I was ok, he didn't panic if I was short of breath, he didn't care if I had scars! He treated me like a normal human being instead of some defenceless little creature. And you wanna know something else? He didn't look at me with pity in his eyes, unlike you! Every single time I saw you, pity was covering your eyes! The only time I loved when we were together was when we slept so that I didn't have to see the pity! You know what, I'm done. Goodnight." Kat gets and goes to walk out of the door, but Rou stops her.
"You were sick? What was wrong with you?"
"I'm not telling you; I can't go through the pity again."
And with that, Kat goes, leaving Rou feeling sadness for Kat and her mysterious past, but also a warmth in his heart. It is then that he realises something.
He loves her.
