I paced back, and forth saying to myself. "I can't believe I was so stupid. Thinking I could have a normal life, here. You were that close to being caught." I went over to a window, and peered out.
There was nothing out there. So I decided, it was time to leave. I grabbed some bags, and started packing, lucky for me, I don't have much, since I move a lot. I went into my room, and started shoving, stuff into bags, and a few boxes. Within two hours I had everything, packed, and ready to go. I just had one last thing to do.
I wrote Jessie a letter telling her I had to leave, and that she'll always be my best friend, in the whole wold. I told her I was sorry. I waited until after dark, then left, and headed over to Jessie's. I put the note on her doorstep, rang the bell, and ran for my car. I waited until Jessie came out, and I watched her read the letter.
"Jessie.
I am so sorry, but I had to leave. I have been here too long, and settling isn't good for me. I told you on the day we met, that one day I would be gone. But the short part of it is, I will never forget you. You will always be my best friend, and my sister, forever. I will let you know where I end up. Good bye.
Love
Shayla."
I put my hand on the window, and watched her go back inside. I wiped away a tear, and started the car, and drove off. I had no idea where I was going, but I knew one thing I will never be safe. I drove towards the highway, and started heading south, not having any destination in mind.
I drove all night, only stopping for gas. Finely when the sun started to rise, I had to pull over, into the roadside motel. I flew my bag on the floor; and collapsed on the bed, and was out like a light.
All through it, I tossed, and turned, lost in nightmares of fire, and arrows, and of watching my family die, right in front of me, again and again.
Suddenly the nightmare changed, and I was back at school, and Quinn was there, with his hands, around my throat, choking the life out of me, I tried fighting him off, but he wouldn't budge, just kept tightening his grip on my neck. Choking the life out of me.
I woke up to find my own hands wrapped tight around my throat, not his. I was gasping for air; I caught my breath, and tried to figure out where I was. Realising I was in the motel room, and that was daytime, light poking through the curtain.
I looked over at the clock, and realised it was almost noon. I grabbed a quick shower, and hit the road. I couldn't get that dam dream out of my mind, all I could see was Quinn's eyes, while he was choking the life out of me. I shivered, and turned off the highway. There was a sign for a town, and headed that way.
I wasn't sure why I headed there, but something seemed to tell me to. As I drove, as far as I could see, was forest, miles, and miles of forest.
I could feel it, for the first time, in a long while I could feel my other side, wanting to come out, and be free. I had to fight for control, or her to be able to keep going.
I came into what seemed like the center of town, I slowed, and looked around.
It's a beautiful town, full of gorgeous old buildings. I pulled over, and climbed out, had a look at all the different little shops.
This town seemed to have everything, you'd need. Then I saw a little restaurant. I headed there, and painfully made my presence known, to a good portion of town.
I sat at one of the empty tables, and waited for someone to serve me, or to introduce themselves to me. But no one did, but I could feel a few sets of eyes on me though. I tried to ignore it, but it was becoming very difficult to do. Finely someone came up to me; it was a waitress, a young girl, with jet black hair, pulled back into a high pony tail. She smiled, down at me, and said. "Hi there, and welcome to Carlee's kitchen, what can I get for you?" I gave her a smile, and said. "I would like a tea please. I will also have eggs, sausages, and hash browns please." She took my order, and went back to the kitchen. Watching her, I have to wonder what this place is.
