Fire and pain are ripping through me, making me scream, and gasp for air. And it feels as if the change is trying to happen, but I can't let it happen.

"Be calm my dear. It will all end soon."

"What's happening to me?"

"I'm healing you, the best way I know how. You can open your eyes. Someone is very eager to know you're alright."

Opening my eyes, even doing that it hurts. The first thing I see is Quinn staring down at me. "Shayla thank god! I thought I lost you."

Helping me sit up, he gently put a glass to my lips, encouraging me to drink. I drank the whole glass, and my throat no longer burns. "What happened to me?" It still hurts to talk. "What do you remember?" Thinking about it. "Everything. We were flying, then Cormac attacked us, and you fell. So I caught you, and changed back before we hit the ground." He nodded, putting another pillow behind me, helping me sit up more, my muscles protesting. But I let him help me. My body is killing me.

"I went back there, and made sure there were no signs that anything happened there. When I came back, all your injuries were healed. Then I started cleaning you up, you were covered in blood." Sighing, he said.

"Why did you do that? You could have killed yourself." He sat next to me, gently taking my hand. "I can't believe he tried to kill you, us." I didn't say anything, I just looked around my room. Everything looks the same, only Quinn's bag is sitting on the chair. I started to move, but he stopped me.

"You're not going anywhere." "How long was I out?" "Only a few hours, Mia I think is home." I nodded. "We have to get out of here. Pack a bag for me, and we'll get on the road for New York." He shook his head, setting a hand on my shoulder.

"No you can't move." "Quinn you listen to me, we have to get out of here. Even if it's just for a day or two."

He thought about it for a moment, then nodded and said. "Okay. Just stay calm. I will pack a bag for you."

He got up and grabbed a bag from my closet, and started packing it for me, grabbing anything he thinks I might need.

"I'll also need some clothes to wear out. Since I'm still a little indecent."

I said since I'm covered in only a thin sheet. He grabbed a long sleeved top, and a pair of jeans, my jacket, a scarf and boots.

Once he has a bag packed for, he set it over with his, and came over to help me get dressed. I told him I can manage and he went to give Lilith more food, and water. He came back into my room just as I started to get my boots on. He knelt down in front of me and helped me with them, as I said.

"We have to be quick about getting down to the car. For all we know Cormac is down there right now waiting for us." He nodded, doing up the zipper. "I know. I will run the bags down to the car, and run up to get you."

I nodded, and he left momentarily taking our bags with him. Once I'm sure he's gone I said to Eliana. "Eliana what did you do to me?"

"I healed you. If I hadn't then, I don't know what would have happened to you, or us."

"I know. I just don't like being weak like this."

Standing and I slowly started limping towards my door. I grabbed some money for the weekend.

I grabbed my jacket, purse and keys, but before I started for the door, I have to right a note to Mia telling her where I'm going, and when I should be back.

Lilith jumped on the table as I folded the note. "Don't worry girl, I won't be gone long." I gave her a good scratch, and started limping to the door, note and purse in hand.

I made sure the door is locked and started my slow decent down the stairs.

"Shayla what are you doing?" Quinn hissed as he started up the stairs, and as I got just about to the bottom.

"I couldn't just wait up there. I need you to put this on Mia's tea tray, in the kitchen. That's the only place I know, that I can be sure that she'll see it."

I said handing him the folded note with her name on it. He nodded and went down the last two steps, disappearing from sight, and I finished limping down the stairs to wait for him.

Quinn got back just as I got down the last step, putting an arm around my waist, helping me.

"Alright there's still no sign of him, but just to be sure I am going to carry you to the car. And don't even think about arguing with me." "Fine you can carry me, but at least let me walk outside, the door so I can lock it."

He nodded, and helped me outside, and once I got the door locked, and key in my purse, Quinn picked me up, carrying me to his car. He deposited me on the seat, and ran to his door, he quickly got his belt on, and tore down the street; not really caring who might hear or see us.

All he wants is to get away from here, in case Cormac might attack.

After we got out of town limits he started to slow, his grip on the steering wheel loosened, his knuckles no longer white.

He turned to me briefly before returning his gaze back to the road. "How are you doing?" "A little better. I'm sorry I scared you." "Why did you change back as we fell? It could have killed you."

Sighing I leaned my head against the window. "I knew it would have been a lot worse if I was still a dragon when we hit, but by changing, there wouldn't be as much damage around us. And there wasn't was there?" Shaking his head. "No. When I went back; there was just a small hole, so I filled it in. When Eliana was healing you, she somehow told me. She got me a message, telling me to leave. That I wouldn't be able to handle it."

He looked at me for a second, then continued.

"I left, and when I came back, you were so still, that it scared me. For a moment I thought you were dead." "I'm sorry Quinn. I didn't mean to worry you. Did you get hurt, when we fell?" "No you broke our fall. I landed on top of you. When we hit, I heard so many things break, in you." Sighing, he looked over at me. I can see the worry in his eyes. "I was so scared. You looked so fragile, and I couldn't bare the loss of losing you. After my parents, I wouldn't be able to stand it."

His grip on the steering wheel started tightening again; I put my hand on his arm, wincing slightly, as the pain; trying to calm him.

"Hey we're both okay. You can relax."

He nodded, relaxing in his seat a little. "We'll be there in a few hours, try and get some sleep."

I nodded, as he put on some soothing music. As soon as it started, my eyes started to close, for a brief moment I felt the car pull over onto the side of the road, and I opened my eyes a crack, as he covered me with a light blanket.

As he pulled back onto the road, I closed my eyes listening to the sound of the soft music, and the sounds of the road.

"Sweet dreams, my sweet."

I don't know who said it, then nothing.
