  Chapter 62

Quinn and I spent the next couple of days, training, preparing our bodies for battle. Now it's December twenty ninth and it's time to end things.

Eliana has told us she has a plan to take care of Cormac, but she hasn't told us what it actually entails.

But now she is going to tell us what we have to do.

"Eliana take control over my body. I want you to tell us everything we must do."

As I said it she started to slither through me, pushing me behind a wall, but I'm still there, listening to everything's she's saying to Quinn.

"It is wonderful to talk to you again." She smiled, using my lips.

"You as well Eliana. So tell us what your plan to take care of Cormac is?"

"We have to make him think that you're going to give yourself over to Cormac Shayla. Then we will take him out." "You will not. I will not let either of you near him like that." She sighed. "I know. But it is the only way to get rid of him. We won't be actually doing anything. We just have let him think we are. Then we will get him out to the woods in the middle of the night and we will take him out permanently."

I thought about it for a moment, I don't like it, but I do think it will work.

I know he won't want to hear it; but he doesn't really have much of a choice in the matter; we will do this without him if we have to, but I need him there.

"Eliana give me back control. I have to talk to him."

"As you wish." Just like that I'm back. Taking Quinn's hand, I looked him right in the eye, trying to reassure him, that I'm okay with what she said.

"I know you don't like it. But I think it is the only way to take him down."

"I can't let you do this. He wants you, it's the only thing he cares about. You and I both know that he will stop at nothing to get you. But I won't let you do that." Sighing. "I know, and this has to stop. Doesn't mean I have to enjoy it."

Tightening my grip on his hand.

"Eliana when will this happen? You must tell me now."

"Tomorrow night. You will go and talk to him in the morning, and have him meet you at midnight in the forest, then we will strike, and it will end."

I relayed the message to Quinn and she told me other things, which I then told Quinn.

He is to wait in the bushes, and when the time is right; he is to strike and we take him down, permanently.

The next few hours, we made preparations for tomorrow night. I made sure the knives are sharp enough, and that our guns are ready. But he still hasn't shown me the sword.

While he's making sure we have everything we need, I went into his room and grabbed the box from under his bed. Walking into the kitchen, carrying the box I cleared my throat, making him look up.

"Why didn't you tell me about this?" I said setting the box on the counter, and pulled out the sword.

"I kept meaning to, but I didn't know how to tell you. I picked it up to protect you. I will be taking it tomorrow night. But don't worry, nothing will happen to you. Not while I'm around."

Once this goes down tomorrow night; nothing will ever be the same again. We will have to deal with telling everyone what happened to Cormac; why he left town, but that we will deal with, it's beforehand that we have to worry about.

"I love you Quinn, no matter what happens tomorrow night that will never change. But you should have told me about this." Sighing. "I know, and now you do. Let's put this behind us and focus on tomorrow night."

Quinn and I popped into the shop; helped there for a while, locked up and made our way back home.

Every time I looked at Lisa and or Tina I want to tell them about everything, but I can't.

Quinn is the only one I have ever told about being a ware-dragon and he accepted me, who is to say that they won't accept me now.

"You can't tell them, not now, maybe not ever. I'm sorry but it's the way it has to be, and you know it."

She's right, it's the way it has to be, but god I wish that someone other than Quinn knows about me. Walking out of the shop; I looked down the street towards the book store, soon I will be going in there, and giving him he want's.

"Come on, let's go over to the diner and get something to eat. You look like you could use something greasy to eat."

I nodded. "Yeah I really could." Taking his hand, we walked over to the diner. Walking through the door, there aren't many people in there, a couple young families, a few older couples.

Sitting at an empty booth, Tina came over; gave us each a drink and took our orders, our usual, and went back to the kitchen. Once she's out of earshot, I leaned forward; whispering.

"I really hope after all this that I don't lose anything I have come to build here." Taking my hand, he kissed each one, before saying.

"You won't lose anything you have here. We have built a life here together, and afterwards we will come back to it, and we will live the rest of our lives in peace."

Tina came back with our food, she was about to say some-thing, but someone in the back put up there mug for more Coffey, and was off, telling us she would talk to us later. Eating a fry, the door opened, making the bell ring, and Cormac walked in.

I didn't have to look to know it was him, I can smell him, and sense him.

As he walked past us, smiling at me, as he sat the counter. I want to leave, but I won't give him the satisfaction of me leaving.

"Be brave my dear, he won't do anything here, with so many people watching. Relax and wait for your time to strike."

She's right, it will come soon enough.

So I stuck it out, mentally throwing daggers at his back while we ate our dinner.

Quinn locked the door behind us walking into the house. I went into my room, changed and went out to the den.

Quinn lit a fire, and poured us each a drink. He always know just what I need.

Sitting on the couch, he wrapped an arm around me, holding me close to him.

"Shayla I have a question for you." "What is it?" "Since you told me about you. How did your race start?" Huh, I have no idea how we started.

"I don't know. None of us knew. We were just beings. We have always been around." "Is there any way to make a new dragon?" "Not as far as I know. I have never tried it, and I don't want to." "Don't get upset. I was just curious. It's something I was wondering about. Let it rest. You and I will be together for a long time to come."

Rubbing his hand up and down my arm, holding me close.

Sighing, I said, still a little uneasy.

"In a few short hours I will be dealing with Cormac. I don't know if I can handle this much longer." I said staring into the fireplace.

"I know you can, and you will. You are strong, and I will be right there with you, the whole time, we will both be fine." "Cormac is stronger than we are. What if he doesn't by my story? Or if he figures out what we're really planning?" "He won't. He might be stronger, but he's not smarter than we are."

He's right, all those years ago, I would always beat him when we would play together, he would always give himself away to some extent, and I would win.

And tomorrow night that won't change, he will give himself away, and we will beat him one last time.

One last time I will be victorious!
