  Chapter 38

Everything I tried on, I make sure the bandage on my back is covered, so Emily won't see it, when I show her what I'm wearing. After trying on outfit after outfit, Emily came back a couple times with more stuff, I asked her bring an empty rack, so I can sort what I want, and don't want.

By the time I tried everything on, I have a whole rack of rejects.

After we finished up in woman's clothing, we moved onto things like shoes. "I don't need shoes." I said to her. "I have my orders Shayla, and we do not disobey Quinn's orders. Now come along."

Sighing, I followed her further into the store.

"I don't like her, she is very bossy. But do not fret my dear, Quinn will be back soon enough. He will take us away from here, and from her."

I smiled as she sat me down, and she started pulling out pair after pair of shoes for me, after she made sure of my shoe size. "Why are you doing this for me? I don't even know you." Setting down a couple of boxes, kneeling down in front of me. "I like Quinn, and Quinn likes you; so I'm helping him out." Growling a little under my breath.

"What do you mean 'you like Quinn'?" "Chill he's a friend, and nothing more. He's all yours. And don't give me that look. I see the way he looks at you, and the way you look at him."

She handed me different shoes, and I created two piles, a yes pile and a no pile. By the end, my no pile was bigger than the yes pile. We took what I did find, back to my clothes, which are bagged and ready to go. But there's a box that wasn't there before. Seeming to know what it is; Emily picked it up, and set it in one of the other bags, before I can even think about asking her about it.

I was about to ask about the box, when hands wrapped around my waist from behind, making me jump.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scare you."

Quinn said moving beside me, not removing his on arm from around my waist.

How did I not hear him coming? I think I'm losing my touch.

"Well I see you two had some fun." I nodded and handed him back his card. "Have you paid yet?" I shook my head, looking around. "Listen I have something I need to do; I won't be gone long."

I said removing his hand. "Do you need me to go with you?" Shaking my head. "No I'll be fine. I won't be a moment." He nodded. "Alright I'll be right here."

I nodded and walked off, purse on my shoulder. I searched everywhere; for something perfect for Quinn.

I found it in the men's department; a leather jacket, it's perfect for him. I paid for it, and the lady boxed and bagged it for me, so he won't see it.

Quinn and Emily are still standing there, but everything else is gone. He gave me a smile, as I walked up to them.

"There you are. We're ready to go." I nodded. "Thank you Emily for helping me." "You're welcome Shayla. It was nice meeting you." "You as well." I said shaking her hand. Moving back, Quinn gave her a light hug, and I started to growl lightly.

"Calm down Shayla, there just saying good bye. Relax."

I know she's right, but I still don't like it. They separated, and Quinn took my free hand.

"Thank you for everything Emily. It was good to see you." "You as well." He smiled and we started walking away from her, and towards the exit.

"Well you look like you had some fun today." "Yeah it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be."

I said looking down at the bag on my arm. As we stepped out of the store, I can feel it; there's eyes on me.

Quinn tightened his grip on me. "What is it? What do you see?" "It's not what I see, it's what I feel. We need to get out of here." Taking my bags from me, he got me in the car, watching our surroundings.

Setting my bags with the rest of it, he made a call to the hotel, hanging up as he got into the car. It's early evening, and the traffic is starting to thin as he maneuvered through the streets, heading back to the hotel.

"Can you feel it still?" Shaking my head. "No but whatever it is, it's still out there. I will never be free."

It doesn't matter where I am, I will never be free. There is always something out there, trying to hurt me, one way or another.

"We will be free soon, my dear. Just be patient."

Taking a deep breath, I tried to settle my nerves.
