  Chapter 55

"Quinn's been gone for a while. He said he would check in. I just hope he didn't go and confront Cormac. I want him back here safe and sound."

"I'm sure he didn't my dear. The boys smarter than that. You don't have to worry."

I'm sure she's right, carrying a load up, the front door closed, and making me stop at the top step.

Setting down the basket, picking up the gun; I crept up gun raised. Stepping into the hall creeping into the den, Quinn is sitting in one of the chairs, head down. "Dam it Quinn!" I said lowering the gun.

"What are you doing back here? Why didn't you call me?" When he didn't look at me, I walked up to him; kneeling in front of him, grabbing hold of his hands, seeing the cuts on his hands. "Quinn what happened to you?" Sighing he said.

"I got into a fight with Cormac. But I'm fine." "You what?" "I just lost control. I was walking by the store, I saw him and lost it."

Putting a finger under his chin, making him look at me. "My god. How bad does he look?" Shrugging. "Not as bad. But if he heals like you, then he'll be fine soon enough." Standing I took his hand, pulling him off the chair.

"We need to get you cleaned up." Leading him into the bathroom, I sat him down on the toilet, I went and got some ice from the kitchen, and came back. I found a first aid kit under the sink.

"I still can't believe you got into a fight with him. I'm sure he could have killed you if he wanted to."

Kneeling down in front of him, I dabbed a cloth in some water, placing it on his face.

"This is going to sting a little. But I need you to stay still." As soon as it touched his face; he flinched, grabbing my wrist. "That hurts a little, there is still a wrist under there. So you might want to ease up a little."

Loosening his grip, he started rubbing my wrist. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to hurt you. I would never hurt you." I can hear it in his voice, and I know he would never intentionally hurt me. "It's okay. Just stay still. I don't think you'll need stitches in this. They should heal well. But you will have quite a shiner for a while."

"I'm used to that. When I would be in training, I would get hit more times than I can count." Putting tight little band aids on his cheek, I noticed the blood on his shirt.

Standing I said. "Lift up your arms." He did, as I pulled off his shirt, revealing bruises on his side and stomach.

"Oh god. These look bad." Gently touching his ribs, he winced a little. "I don't think there broken, but they are badly bruised." Quinn said.

Touching his side, there sore to the touch, but I don't think there broken. I've had broken ribs in the past, and there not broken. "Quinn do me a favor." I said looking into his eyes. "Don't confront him again please. For me."

Stroking my cheek with his thumb, he wiped an escaped tear from my cheek.

"I won't confront him. At least not until it's his time." Smiling, I took his hand, pressing it to my cheek, feeling the warmth from his hand. "Thank you. Soon he will pay for what he's done to you." He looked at me.

"Your eyes are turning gold." Smiling I stood. "We have work to do. We have to get you ready for when we face him next." Taking the bowl with water that is now red from all his blood. After washing up I said.

"In preparation for our next battle against Cormac, we are going to turn the basement into a training room." I said looking over my shoulder at him.
