  Chapter 42

Monday came and went, Quinn moved out of his aunt and Uncles place, and moved in with me, I moved downstairs, Quinn talked to the other tenant, but I didn't, I couldn't.

But neither one of us took Mia's room, lucky for the both of us, there's two spare rooms down there, we took care of her personal affects, telling people that they can take something if they wanted to, but really no one did.

Quinn and I have started going through her clothes, and things; donating them, but we did keep a few things, I wanted to remember her by.

"Hey you doing alright?" Quinn asked walking into the sitting room where I'm curled on the couch, with sketch book, but not wanting to draw anything.

"I've been better. Everything I look at I see her. I don't know how long I'll be able handle this."

"You will be fine. We'll get through this." I nodded, looking at the time. "We need to get ready, it's almost time for the service." He nodded and we went to our rooms to get changed. In the bunch of clothing he got me, there's a little black dress that will be perfect for the service.

Pairing it with a small pair of pumps, and my black cardigan, and I'm ready to go.

Quinn came out; in a black suite, he looks good. He helped me with my jacket, we walked out the door, locking it behind us.

Pulling into the parking lot of the church, so far there aren't that many people so far, but hopefully there will be more soon enough.

The minister; met us in the church, greeting us with warm smiles. Suddenly I want to be anywhere but here, but I know I can't leave; I won't do that to Mia. She cared for me after I got here; and I won't disrespect her by running and hiding, from it. I have to stay and be strong.

"So since there's no family; it would be nice if you and Shayla would sit in the front seating for the service."

"Of course." They looked at me, and I just nodded; sitting next to Quinn.

After a few minutes the flowers came in; and people started coming in, filling the church. The minister came in got us, asking us to come to the back of the church, until it's time for the service to start.

The service was beautiful; people spoke wonderfully about her, she was a wonderful person. Everyone asked me to speak, I said no.

I didn't know her long enough to really know what she was like, but what everyone said about her was beautiful. Cormac came in, but he didn't say anything, but I can feel him staring at me, but I won't give him the time of day. Quinn took my hand, as if sensing that I'm nervous, trying to reassure me.

Quinn and I stayed for a while after the service; at the reception, but I wanted to leave; so he agreed grabbing our coats.

Waiting I tried to get Eliana to talk to me, but still she's silent. Cormac started towards me, but I don't have enough time to dodge him before he's on me.

"That was a lovely service. She was a wonderful woman. You and I have some unfinished business."

Aww Cormac always the charmer. Always knows the right time to strike, at a person.

"Excuse me." Quinn is right behind him, holding our coats.

"We're not done here, not by a long shot."

He walked off, as Quinn got me out of there as fast as he can, helping me with my coat, and ushered me out.

"Get in the car, we have to get you home." He pulled away, before I can even get my belt on.

The house isn't far from the church, and it only took a couple turns to get back to the house.

"I am getting an alarm system here as soon as I can. Now more than ever we have to deal with Cormac." "You don't have to do that. We will deal with him, but not like this."

"He just threatened you, again and I won't stand for it. So either we leave again; or we deal with him the way we have to." Sighing, I know he's right, but I don't want to have to deal with this, not right now; not when it's so close to that day, and so close to Christmas. "Alright you can get a system, but you will not keep me locked in here. If Cormac gets a whiff that we're scared, then that means he wins, and he will not get that satisfaction." He smiled coming over to me; stroking my cheek. "You are the most amazing girl."

He kissed me, moving us so we're against the wall, my back against the wall, holding onto me.

Quinn's phone started ringing, he moved back, staring at me. "You really should get that." Pulling it out.

"Hello. Hey Mike what's up? Yeah... I'll be there in a few. Bye." He hung up, stroking my cheek again. "I have to go, but I want you to stay in the house. I will be back as soon as I can." Nodding. "I know. Go, I'll be fine. You gave me that phone, I'll call if I need you." He nodded. "Okay." He gave me one last kiss, and left; making sure I locked the door before we walked down the steps, to his car.

Sighing, I changed from my dress, and continued sorting through Mia's things.

Lilith followed me through the house, stepping into her room, I've started to box up her clothes, but haven't quite finished, so I continued that.

"Eliana I really wish you would talk to me. I miss you, and I need to hear your voice, so please talk to me."

"I'm here now my dear. I never left you, I just needed some rest. Please don't be mad at me. I will always be with you."

"Thank god. I have missed you so much. What happened to you?"

"I told you, I just needed some rest, I have had it and now I'm back, and you will never lose me again. I am so sorry, if I frightened you."

Sighing. I have never felt so whole, in all my life. Having her back, I feel now that I have everything I need. I have the other half of my soul, and the man I think I might be in love with.

"You think you love him? Well it is about time. I knew you would come to admit it to yourself sooner or later. Now you have, and everything is as it should be."

"And what is that supposed to mean?" She started laughing as I stepped in front of the mirror, as my eyes flared gold for a second before fading.

"You know what I mean. You love him, and I believe he loves you, and do not give me that look."

"If he feels like that for me, then he will tell me. But neither one of us will try to get it out of him." She sighed my eyes flared gold again and faded, back to their natural brown.

Smiling, I went back to my sorting, folding her clothes and filling boxes to donate.

By the time I got everything packed up, it took me over two hours, and have all the boxes piled up at the door. Grabbing some sheets, I covered everything, and closed the door, setting my hand on the door, saying good bye to her.

Heading into the sitting room, to wait for Quinn to get back.

Lilith jumped on my lap settling in, purring as I scratched her behind the ears.

"What are we going to do? Huh? Something has to be done about Cormac. Do you have any bright ideas to help?" She didn't say anything, just jumped off, moving to the couch, curling up; going to sleep.

Going into my room, I went through everything in my closet, until I came to the bag with my gift for Quinn in it.

"You know it is getting closer to Christmas. There must be some stuff downstairs, let us go and see, what we find. It will help get your mind off things for a while."

Since I've been here, I have yet to see the basement, I don't even know where to find said door, so I started my search for it.
