"Wake up Shayla. It's time to wake. My love."
"No. Leave me be."
"No you must wake. Its morning, and you need to get to work." Opening my eyes, she's right it is morning, and I do have to get ready for work.
Climbing off the couch, I went to the bathroom; and turned on the water, climbing in quickly showering.
After my shower; I went to my room, it's getting colder out, so I have to wear clothing for the weather.
I pulled on a pair of jeans and a simple blue shirt and my runners. Pulling on my jacket as someone knocked on my door. Opening it, Quinn is standing there holding two Coffey cups. "Morning Quinn. What are you doing here?" "Well I was on my way to the shop, and I thought I would walk with you. I also brought you this." He said handing me my cup. "Thanks. Come on in; I'm just about ready to go." I said moving back so he can come in closing the door behind him.
"How are you feeling?" He asked. "A lot better thanks. I don't know what happened to me, but I never want it to happen to me again." He nodded, taking a sip from his cup.
As I grabbed my bag, Lilith darted out from wherever she was hiding and started attacking Quinn's boot, pawing at it and she even tried to bite it.
"Come on we're going to be late." He nodded, and gave her a scratch and followed me out of my apartment.
"So were you really just walking by?" I asked as we went down the stairs. "No. But to be perfectly honest, I just wanted to make sure you were alright, so I just did it. Tina wants you to go see her at lunch by the way. She said she has something important she needs to talk to you about." I nodded. "Okay thanks. I'll go see her when I get the chance." Stepping down the stairs, Mia is nowhere to be found; I found a note by the door, saying she was having breakfast at the diner with some friends, and asked me to lock the door behind me when I left. Folding the note I stuck it in my bag, and locked the door behind us.
"Why does she keep telling me when she goes out?" "Well as far as I know she doesn't really have any family, so when you moved in she probably started thinking of you as a grand-daughter or something." Stopping, I looked at him. "Really? Wow. She seems like she would be great to have as a grand-mother." He nodded, as we continued down the street heading to the bake shop.
Walking into the shop Lisa is already there, and she's just pulling a couple pans of muffins out of the ovens.
"Morning Lisa." Quinn said as we walked back. "Morning. I couldn't sleep so I thought I would come in early and get a head start." Looking around, it looks like she has most of the stuff baked and ready to go.
"How long have you been here?" Shrugging. "A couple hours or so. It was a pretty bad night for me. I hope you don't mind?" "No not at all. I'm just sorry you had such a bad night. Why don't you take a brake and we'll continue." She nodded. "Okay. I think I'll go get something to eat. Thank you."
As she walked past me she gave me a look, it's not as bad as some of the looks she given me since I started here, but still it's progress. After she left, I went over to the fridge and got out my icing and whatever that I'll be needing.
"Quinn can I ask you something?" "Sure what is it?" "Was there something between you and Lisa? Because by the way that she was looking at me, it's like there was."
Sighing he turned so he can look at me while he says this. He nodded.
"Yeah there was something between us at one point. But it didn't go anywhere. I broke it off and she didn't take it all that well, needless to say. But there is nothing going on, and there will never be anything going on between us ever again."
He looked at me, and the way he looked at me.
"Has she said something to you?" Shaking my head. "No. But she has given me some looks, and they say 'stay away from him he's mine.'" "Don't worry. You have nothing to worry about. She won't do anything to you, I will make sure of it. Now come on, get to work, we have a shop to get open." I nodded and we got to work.
"So what are we going to do about the stick up her but?"
"What are you talking about? Who are you talking about?" "You know who, Lisa. She keeps throwing daggers at you. What are you going to do about it?"
"Nothing. I'm not going to do anything about it. She won't do anything to me, and if she does then I will deal with her. But for now I am going to finish up with these. Now settle back down and get some rest."
She didn't say anything else, but I can feel her getting restless down there, so tonight I think we need to take a flight, stretch her wings out. But for now we have a shop to get open. Just as I set my last tray of cupcakes into the case Lisa came in, looking a little upset.
"What is it Lisa?" Looking up at me. "That guy you know, Cormac he just asked me out." Giving her a look. "He did? What did you say?"
"I said yes. But I don't know why I said yes, but I did." Giving her fake smile I said. "Good for you. You deserve to have some fun. I hope the two of you have fun."
She smiled at me, a real smile. "Thanks. But I don't know if I should go or not."
"Why wouldn't you go?" "Well I didn't know if it would be awkward or not." "Why would it be awkward?" Shrugging. "I don't know, I just thought it would be. But if it won't be, then I think I will go, thanks." She gave me a smile and went to the back, to finish up her cakes.
She can't go out with him, I know what he's doing; he doing this to get to me. I just know it.
It's going to end badly for her; I know it and I will be there when it happens, I will take care of her, and Cormac will pay for it!
