Chapter 63
Its December 30th and the day all this will end. Walking through town, I left Quinn back at the house, it's the safest place for him to be right now, while I deal with Cormac at his book store.
Stopping just outside the door, and taking a deep breath, I walked into the store.
Looking around for any signs of him, then I voice called.
"I'll be right with you." Cormac called from the back.
Stepping out from the back, he took one look at me, snarling. "What do you want?"
Smiling I said. "I've come to give you what you want." Crossing his arms over his chest. "What is it exactly that I want?"
"He's playing with you love, don't give him what he wants. Be strong."
"You know what you want. Meet me tonight at midnight, in the forest and I'll give myself over to you."
"What about you're human? What of him?" Scoffing. "He's gone. It's you I want. It's always been you." "Why the change of heart?" Giving him a look. "Does it really matter? You're getting what you've wanted since that first day I first walked in here." He smiled, coming closer to me. "You won't regret it. You will be my queen, and I will be your king."
He said coming towards me, setting a hand on my shoulder, I have to bite my tongue so I don't move away from him.
"I will see you tonight my love."
I almost gagged as those words left my mouth. Moving back, I got out of there as fast as I can.
All I want to do right now is tear off my clothes and burn them, then hurl for letting him touch me in any way.
Running as fast as I can, briefly I looked back to make sure, and hope that Cormac isn't following me.
As soon as I got far enough from the store I started running, as fast as I can, not stopping until I get back to the house.
As soon as I got through the door, I found Quinn pacing up and down the hall waiting for me to come back. Taking one look at me, he said.
"Shayla thank god!" He pulled me into his arms; crushing me against him. "Quinn.... I... can't.... breathe." He released me, looking me over. "He didn't do anything to me. Don't worry." "But you're okay?" I nodded, wrapping my hand in his shirt, breathing in his scent.
"He bought everything. We're meeting tonight at midnight, in the forest. It all worked out just like Eliana said it would." He nodded. "Good. I still don't like it, but I know it has to be done." I nodded. "In a few hours, this will all be over. Is everything ready?" Shaking his head.
"Not quite. I've been so worried since you left. I haven't been able to do anything, since you left."
Taking a deep breath, he said.
"Well then we have some things we need to take care of." Walking into my room, pulling off my shirt throwing it away. Opening my dresser, I noticed a small box sitting on top next to Quinn's ring. "What is this?" I asked as Quinn walked into my room.
He noticed I'm not wearing a shirt, but it doesn't bother me. "I pulled out my father's ring, I thought it would be suitable to wear tonight." He said picking up the small red velvet box. "And I had this one made for you."
He said opening the box, and revealed a large ring inside. It's similar to his, but it's my family crest, a dragon with a rose in its claw.
Pewter setting, red rose. The dragon itself looks like it can come to life at any moment. It's who I am, who I have always been.
