Here's a new chapter. Hope you like it. thanks for reading.
Being a Saturday the place hasn't been all that busy, at about two in the afternoon Quinn told Lisa she could head home, that the two of us could handle things.
She left saying that she would see us in the morning. After she left my nerves settled down a little and I can think again, and it would seem taking a look at Quinn that he feels the exact same way.
"Hey there you are. I thought you were coming to the diner for lunch?" "Shoot. I am so sorry, I forgot all about it. I'm so sorry." She lifted a bag, and tray, setting them on the counter.
"Well you didn't come to lunch, so I thought I would bring lunch to you, and some for Quinn as well of course." "You know that's why I love you Tina. You know just how to get to a guy." She smiled, handing him a cup, and container. "Come on back, we'll eat back there." "Am I allowed? Since I don't work here." He nodded, and moved so she can follow me back to the kitchen. "Wow I had no idea that the kitchen looked like this. This place is amazing."
She said looking around. "I know I had the exact same reaction when I first came back here. But it is one heck of a place to work."
"Don't be so sappy. If you do that again, then they will both know. So get it together."
I don't like her tone, but I know she's right. I have to get things under control. "So what kind of things happen around here at Halloween? Because just by taking a look outside, it would appear that you do a lot." Tina and Quinn looked at each other. "What? What is it?" "Well we do different festivals, and on Halloween we do a huge party, and everyone goes to it." "Why wouldn't I want to know about that?" Shrugging. "I don't know, just some people aren't that into it."
"Well I'm not one of them, at least not right now I'm not. So we are going to do everything that happens around here."
"Really Shayla darling, you're going to play at this. You hate all that stuff. I know it, and you know it."
I will deal with her later, right now I have them I have to deal with.
The bell out front rang, and I went to get it, telling Quinn and Tina to stay and talk.
Standing at the counter is Miss Blake she's one of the school teachers in town I learned, she smiled when she saw me, moving her hair off her shoulders.
She looks as though she's in her early thirties, with long dark black hair, green eyes. "How may I help you today?" "I would like half a dozen donuts." She said as I pulled on a pair of rubber gloves, and pulled out a list from her purse and started listing off everything she wants.
By the time I got everything boxed, and tied, she got almost a hundred dollars' worth of stuff, and which she paid cash for everything.
I helped her out with everything to her car, and stood outside in the sun, just as Cormac walked up to me.
"What do you want?" "I want to talk to you." "Well I don't want to talk to you. I don't know how many times I have to tell you, I want nothing to do with you. When I found you here, yes I wanted to reconnect with you, but now I want nothing from you, I want nothing to do with you!" I spat at him. "Well I'm not going to stop. I will never stop until I get what I want." I started to walk away from him, but he grabbed my arm, wrenching me back to him.
"You will be mine Shayla. One way or another, you will be mine." I tried to get free from his grasp, but he won't let go of me. Until Quinn is at my side, and pried me from Cormac's strong grip.
He moved me behind him, trying to protect me, from Cormac. "You will leave her alone, or I swear you will live to regret it." "Is that a threat little boy?"
"Yes it most certainly is. Leave her alone."
Cormac snarled at the both of us, and walked off, heading back to his bookstore, and Quinn ushered me back inside, and locked the door, putting up the closed and will be back in ten minutes sign on the door.
Pushing me into the kitchen, and sat me down, while he got the first aid kit to check me over. "What happened out there?" Tina asked kneeling down in front of me.
"I was confronted by Cormac outside and Quinn rescued me. Thank you for that by the way." "He shouldn't have done that to you. Now let me see."
He sat in front of me and opened the kit, while I showed him my arm, where now a red huge hand print is printed on my arm. "Oh my god! How did he manage to do that?" "I tried to pull away, but he grabbed me and wrenched me back to him, and I kept trying to pull away from him, apparently I shouldn't have done it."
Gently taking my hand, he moved up my arm and started dabbing my arm with something that stings a little.
"It shouldn't last for very long, but we are going to cover it, so no one sees it."
He said pulling out a roll of gauze and tape and some kind of pad to set over the print.
"If he ever does that to you again, I want you to tell me. He will never do that to you ever again." I nodded. "I will tell you I swear It." he wrapped up my arm and put away the kit and put a hand on my cheek.
"Now more than ever we have to do something about Cormac. If he did that to us now, then who knows what he will do to us in the future."
I know that she's right, I just don't know what to do about him.
Tina got up gave me a hug saying she had to get back to work, but that she would check in, in a while and left.
Once we're alone Quinn looked at me. Crossing his arms across his chest. "What was all that about? What does he want with you?" "I can't tell you. It's a long story, but I will deal with him, he won't bother us again."
"It's not me that I'm worried about, it's you. If he does any-thing to you again I will deal with him myself."
"You don't have to worry. He won't do anything to me. But thank you for taking care of me, and coming once again to my rescue."
Standing I stood and went back to the front, and unlocked the door, and put the open sign back up in the window, and just like that three people walked in, looking for what we have to offer. Before I walked out I pulled on my light sweater so my arm doesn't show.
By the time five came around everything was gone, there wasn't anything left in the cases.
Washing up, Quinn stopped me and said.
"You can go on home. I can finish up here." "You sure? I don't mind staying to help clean up." Shaking his head. "No I'm sure. Go on, I'll see you in the morning. Wait hold on a moment." He went into the back and came out with a box in his hands. "Take these home with you." He handed me the box. "Okay. And thank you again for everything."
He nodded and gave me a light kiss on the cheek, giving my hand a light squeeze and walked me out. "Call me when you get home. Just so I know you got home safe." "I will, don't worry."
I quickly walked, heading straight home, checking everywhere for any signs of Cormac.
