Here's a new chapter. hope you enjoy.
The day before the ball everything around me was a blur, I didn't even know what was happening around me, Tina came in, and told us she was going as Cleopatra, and told us what her costume was like, and of course Lisa didn't tell us anything, in fact she didn't even tell us if she was going or not.
At the end of the way, Quinn handed me another envelop of money, and told me to take the day off, since he wasn't going to open the shop anyways, and that he would pick me up at 6:00 for the ball.
I went home, had a decent night sleep, and now here we are, Halloween day, one day I don't usually celebrate, but this time it feels good to take part in the events.
"Wake my dear, you have things to do. Come now; your night awaits. Along with your prince."
Opening my eyes, but I can't see anything, something is on my face.
Feeling, the dam cat is sleeping on my face again. Pushing her off, I sat up in bed; I have ink all over my hands and arms, looking around, my sketch book is sitting next to me, and drawings of Quinn is staring back at me.
Closing the book, I went to try and wash all the ink off, and lucky for me most of it came off.
I have some things to do before I get ready for the ball tonight, I grabbed some of my money, and pulled on some clothes, and told Lil I would be back in a while, and closed my bedroom door, in case she gets some ideas about doing something to my costume, which if she did do something, I would not be a happy dragon. Stepping down into the house, Mia went all out; I don't even recognize the place, but she is nowhere to be seen.
"She is an odd lady that Mia. When did we pay her last?"
Grabbing some money from my purse, and set it in her kitchen and headed for the door.
"There now you don't have to worry, but we do have to hurry. We have things to do." Just to be safe, I locked the door, in case Mia isn't home.
Driving down the street in my old black ford focus, I don't recognize the town at all right now. If I didn't live here, I would drive away, and never come back; the town looks like it was transported through time or something. Stopping at the diner, I grabbed a Coffey and kept on with my day. Pulling over in front of the market; I climbed out just as Cormac walked out, he stopped when he saw me, but didn't say anything.
"You can do this, just walk right past him. You have nothing to prove to him. Remember you are his Queen, and will be treated as such."
She's right, I am his Queen, and he has no right to treat me like this. Standing up straight, I walked right up to him, I didn't even look at him, as I walked past, but he did growl at me, and kept on walking. Taking a deep breath I grabbed a cart and started my shopping.
Loading my car, I made my next stop; someone in the market told me there's an office store; in town, so that's where I headed.
The store isn't far from the market, so I locked my car deciding to walk there.
Looking up at the sky, the sun is trying to break through the dark thick cloud cover, but it can't quite manage it, the clouds are threatening to rain, if not worse.
Walking through the store, there's everything you could possibly need. They have different sizes of sketch books, I got a few different ones, more pencils, they even have different kinds of colouring pencils.
"Morning Shayla what are you doing here?"
Tina is at the end of the aisle, holding a basket of her own. "Hey what are you up to?" "I needed some stuff for the diner. What about you?" "I needed some paper and things." We walked up to the cash together. "So are you all ready for the ball tonight?" "Yes I am. I can't wait, it will be so much fun. Everyone in town is coming."
We paid for our stuff and walked out together, and the sky has darkened even more since I went in there.
"So where are you off to now?" "I just have a couple more stops to make then heading home to get ready. How about you?" "I have to go into work for a while. Then home." She walked me to my car, as I put my bags in the trunk, she looked at my arm.
"How's your arm?" I moved so fast, I almost hit my head on the trunk. "My arm? It's fine. It healed quickly; so it's all better now, thank you." Smiling. "I'm glad. I still can't believe he did that to you, he is such an ass." "I took care of him, so we don't have to worry about him." "I'm glad. But listen I need to get going, I can't be gone from the diner long, things tend to happen when I'm not there." "I'll see you tonight." She nodded, gave me a hug, and walked off, and I climbed into the car, and headed for the shop.
"Why are we going to the shop? It's not open."
"I just want to see if Quinn is there or not. So relax, and we will be home as soon as possible."
She sighed and settled back down, deep in my soul.
Stopping in front of the shop; and sure enough Quinn is standing at the counter. But I can't tell what he's doing in there.
"What is he doing in there?" I said getting out of the car, I stepped up to the door, and knocked.
"Hey what are you doing here?" He asked opening the door. "I was driving by, heading home, and saw you in here. Is everything alright in here?" I asked coming in. "Yeah, I just had to take care of a few things before tonight. But I was just about head out, so I will see you tonight."
Stepping out he held my car door open for me, while I got in.
"I'll see you tonight." I said driving off, watching Quinn in the rear-view mirror.
